Updated: 2 days ago

A digital illustration of DJ Ronsha wearing glasses, a cap, and a beige jacket, depicted with angel wings and surrounded by clouds under a bright blue sky. The text “Rest in Peace DJ Ronsha” appears below, paying tribute to the late French DJ and producer known for his influential Boom Bap and Hip-Hop work with G-Zon and La Meute.

The final episode of The Boom Bap Show, hosted by DJ Ronsha and G-Zon, marks a poignant moment for Scientific Sound Asia. As one of the station’s cornerstone programmes, it has long been dedicated to preserving and celebrating the true essence of hip-hop. Its devoted audience across Asia and beyond has helped establish Scientific Sound Asia not only as a respected radio station but also as an international DJ agency and event promoter with a reputation for authenticity and passion.

Each week, the show has delivered a carefully curated blend of Boom Bap, Underground Hip-Hop, and Rap, staying faithful to the roots of the culture while providing a platform for both new artists and established legends. G-Zon has been a key figure in the Paris hip-hop scene since the 1980s, recognised for his pioneering role in developing the French Boom Bap sound.

His creative partnership with the late DJ Ronsha led to the formation of La Meute, a collective famed for its raw beats, uncompromising lyricism, and deep underground spirit. Their music captured the voice of the Parisian streets while resonating with fans worldwide who sought the authenticity of true hip-hop.

A defining highlight in their shared legacy came with the release of Danse Avec Les Loups, featuring collaborations with 20SYL (of Hocus Pocus and C2C) and Black M (of Sexion d’Assaut). The project brought international acclaim, proving that French Boom Bap could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the global movement while maintaining its underground integrity.

DJ Ronsha, who sadly passed away after recording this final episode, will forever be remembered for his precision in production, deep musical knowledge, and lifelong dedication to hip-hop. His collaborations, including Underground Things (featuring Napoleon Da Legend and Tone Spliff) and For Paris With Love (with Mike Titan and A7CM), reflected his mission to connect the French and international underground scenes.

Together, DJ Ronsha and G-Zon built far more than a radio show, they created a movement. Their legacy continues to unite listeners around the world, keeping the spirit of Boom Bap alive and ensuring that hip-hop’s message of creativity, truth, and resistance endures for generations to come.

His tribute track “DJ Ronsha” is more than just a song, it’s a heartfelt tribute to a man who uplifted everyone around him. Known for his dedication to real hip hop and his unwavering support for others, DJ Ronsha made countless people feel seen, valued, and inspired through his words and actions. The track stands as a celebration of his legacy, his influence, and the positive energy he brought to the culture. Produced by Chef Mike, “DJ Ronsha” serves as the lead single from 43 Ill Laimbeer and is now streaming and available on CD and digital at www.sethros.com.

The show opens with the powerful combination of Afrodeezeak 3 and Boom Bap, immediately establishing the raw, classic sound that defined DJ Ronsha’s vision. These early selections from A-F-R-O, Bumpy Knuckles, and F.T. carry the authority and precision he was known for. From the very first cuts, you can feel Ronsha’s unmistakable ear for rugged drums, sharp lyricism, and that timeless underground feel.

As the mix moves forward, the tone deepens with tracks from Recognize Ali, Muddy, and Solomonic Journey. These choices highlight the balance Ronsha always created between raw aggression and reflective storytelling. The sequencing here feels intentional and powerful, with each track adding texture and weight. It’s a reminder of how naturally he blended strong voices, soulful loops, and darker atmospheric edges.

The show’s central stretch carries a heavy emotional resonance. Franchise & Shy The BeatYoda, Edo G, Killer Ben, Travisty, and All Hail Y.T. deliver gritty verses over tight, carefully selected production. These moments show Ronsha’s lifelong dedication to crafting mixes that respect hip hop’s foundations while giving shine to artists pushing the underground forward. There is a sense of depth and introspection running through this part of the show, echoing the passion he always brought to his sets.

Later, the energy rises sharply with forceful contributions from Ruste Juxx, U.G., Skanks The Rap Martyr, and Wrekonize. This is Ronsha leaning fully into the competitive edge of Boom Bap — heavy bars, relentless flows, and beats built to shake speakers. These selections capture the spirit of the cypher, the battle, the hunger. It’s one of the places where Ronsha’s curatorial instincts always thrived, highlighting pure skill and raw street intensity.

As the final third of the show unfolds, tracks such as Kownt Ka$h, Here Comes The Money, and Re-Animator push the mix into cinematic territory. Ronsha transitions confidently between aggressive cuts, lyrical reflections, and unfiltered underground anthems. You can feel his signature style in every movement — firm transitions, cohesive storytelling, and an unshakeable love for authentically crafted hip hop.

The final selections, including Run It Back and A-F-R-O’s End Of An Era, bring the show to an emotional close. These last tracks strike with both power and tenderness, offering a fitting farewell to a DJ who spent decades championing independent artists, lyrical mastery, and the culture he loved deeply. This broadcast stands as a tribute to DJ Ronsha’s legacy, his passion, and his unwavering dedication to Boom Bap. Rest in peace, DJ Ronsha, your spirit resonates through every beat and every bar.
