French DJ and producer DJ King Flow returns with a new edition of Mixtape Addict, delivering a fresh selection of underground hip hop. Broadcast via Scientific Sound Asia, the Vietnam based international radio station, promoter, music news platform and DJ agency, the programme continues to provide a global platform for artists dedicated to the core values of hip hop culture.

DJ King Flow began DJing at the age of fourteen, developing a style rooted in boom bap while maintaining a contemporary outlook. Drawing inspiration from the foundations of 90s hip hop, his sound remains firmly connected to the present, consistently supporting emerging voices from across the international underground scene.

This ability to bridge generations has earned him recognition from listeners and artists worldwide, establishing him as a trusted selector within lyrical hip hop. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with respected figures including Ras Kass, Tragedy Khadafi, O.C., Juicy J and Khujo Goodie, reflecting his ongoing commitment to preserving and promoting the culture's foundations.

Since launching Mixtape Addict in 2015, DJ King Flow has developed the platform into a respected hub for independent artists, combining hip hop radio broadcasts, interviews and mixtape releases to showcase authentic talent and strengthen the underground community. Alongside his work as a selector, he continues to expand his catalogue as a producer and collaborator.

His instrumental album The Adventures of F.J. Parker blends jazz influenced melodies, soulful textures, deep grooves and the raw character of classic hip hop production. Subsequent projects including Trill Legacy (Instrumentals) further highlighted his beatmaking abilities, while collaborations such as Warzone featuring Ice Crimi, Win or Lose featuring Imam T.H.U.G. and Money with Lex Lakaiser reinforced his growing presence within the contemporary underground scene.

More recent releases include Back To Basics (Mixtape Addict) featuring Faf Larage, Napoleon Da Legend, Relo and DJ Djel, Bills (Remix) featuring Khujo Goodie, Laser Rouge featuring Omaz and Joe Mack, and The Movement featuring ISH-ONE. Continuing his international approach, he followed these with the collaborative EPs Legacy alongside Dnzl Izm and Northwest Flow with Seattle emcee King Khazm, reflecting both his global network and his continued dedication to independent hip hop culture.

Interview Guest: Chi-King.

Chi-King is a New York based rapper and hip hop veteran with more than two decades in the culture. Working across hip hop, salsa and soul, his sound draws from the musical diversity of the city that shaped him.

His approach is rooted in respect for the foundations of the art form while allowing space for influences beyond strict genre boundaries. Known online as @therealchi_king, he brings experience, rhythm and lyrical presence to each release.

Recent collaborative work with DJ Swift includes Smooth Revival, Tengo and What It's Giving. The tracks form part of Borough to Banlieue, a cross-Atlantic project linking Chi-King's New York delivery with DJ Swift's production work.

Streaming listings also connect Chi-King with tracks including What It's Giving featuring Prodigal Sunn, Stolen Sisters, Foul Mouth Bugsy and Zu-Tang. Earlier discography entries and artist credits point to a longer recording history, adding further context to his position as a veteran voice within independent hip hop.

His work with DJ Swift signals a new creative chapter built around groove led production, cross-cultural energy and a strong connection to New York's wider musical identity. The collaboration places his voice within a broader international frame while keeping the focus on lyricism, rhythm and hip hop foundations.

Interview Guest: DJ Swift

DJ Swift is a French DJ, producer and radio host based in Los Angeles. He began his career in Paris and reached the final of the French DMC Championships in 1998, establishing a technical foundation rooted in turntablism.

In 2000, he joined French rock band Silmarils as their DJ. The role took him into international touring and major-label recording, with the group releasing four albums through Warner Music.

His move to Los Angeles opened another chapter in Hip Hop. He became DJ for Prodigal Sunn of Sunz of Man, worked with artists connected to the Wu-Tang family and hosted the WU IZ IT show on Wu-Tang Radio.

DJ Swift has also produced tracks and remixes for artists including The Black Knights, Af-Ra and Xzibit. Alongside his production work, he taught at Scratch DJ Academy in Los Angeles and has been listed as faculty at Musicians Institute in Hollywood.

His radio work includes activity with Shade 45, Fun Radio and Wu-Tang Radio. In 2015, he founded Wild1 Radio, where he serves as CEO and programme director.

Through WildOne Records, his productions are distributed via The Orchard and Sony Music. His work connects French turntablism, Los Angeles Hip Hop and international radio culture, giving his collaboration with Chi-King a strong cross-Atlantic foundation.

Episode 104 of the Mixtape Addict Show opens with something distinct from the previous instalments. Chi-King and DJ Swift anchor the first three tracks, bringing a Latin-inflected flavour to the programme that sets Episode 104 apart from its predecessors. Smooth Revival, Tengo, and What It's Giving introduce the New York duo's fusion of Hip Hop and Latin soul ahead of their interview at the close of the show.

The Doppelgangaz follow with What's Going Awn, the Westchester duo's deadpan wit and self-produced cinematic darkness providing a sharp tonal shift. Tre-Dot's Still Got It then slots in with familiar underground confidence before Onyx arrive with the episode's first major centrepiece. It All Started In Brooklyn, produced by Quab Lab and released through 100 MAD, is a 2026 origin statement from Fredro Starr and Sticky Fingaz, the track trusting pressure, voice, and aggression to do the work as it has done since Bacdafucup.

The East Coast Hip Hop lineage runs deep through the episode's middle section. Blu and Exile's CRUMBS, featuring Rome Streetz and ICECOLDBISHOP, arrives from their 2026 album Time Heals Everything, Exile's soul-forward production providing the backdrop for four MCs taking aim at the scraps that corrupt systems expect people to accept. M-Dot, Co Defendants, and Big Twins follow on Out Of Paris, M-Dot's European underground connections and Big Twins' Queensbridge roots converging for a track that speaks to the transatlantic reach of the Underground Hip Hop network.

Terror Van Poo, Vinny Idol, and Ruste Juxx bring Pull Up, with Tone Spliff's cuts adding texture to an already forceful collaboration, before Obleak, Yotto Beatz, Illa Ghee, and Tone Spliff deliver Boombox Soldiers, a Philadelphia-Brooklyn-St. Kitts convergence that treats Hardcore Hip Hop as an act of sustained commitment rather than nostalgia. Rick Ross and T.I. provide one of the episode's most commercially weighted moments with Mahogany Caskets, the lead single from Ross's forthcoming Set in Stone album, two veterans delivering the kind of luxury Southern Hip Hop that has defined both careers.

Pslums, Big Noyd, and Fuego Base's Concrete Vision draws together Boston, Queensbridge, and Hartford for a track rooted in the Infamous Mobb and BSF traditions, while Obleak and Yotto Beatz close the musical selection with The Mic's Macabre featuring Tesla's Ghost, one of the darker entries in Yotto Beatz's already menacing catalogue.

Benny The Butcher and 38 Spesh's ICE (Masta Ben Remix) brings the set to a definitive close, the Upstate New York pairing as cold and composed as the title suggests. The episode closes with DJ King Flow in conversation with Chi-King and DJ Swift, an interview that contextualises the Latin hip hop thread that opened the show and extends the Rap Music programme's longstanding commitment to platforming independent voices building their own lanes.

Episode 104 of Mixtape Addict is a special double guest edition, with host DJ King Flow linking up with French DJ and producer DJ Swift and Brooklyn MC Chi King for a conversation covering careers, collaboration, and the project that has brought them together. Asked for his all-time favourite DJ, Swift points immediately to Cut Killer as the figure who ignited everything for him in France.

He draws a direct comparison to the influence DJ Clue had in the US, describing Cut Killer as a pioneer who pressed and distributed twenty thousand copies of mixtapes through French record stores while simultaneously pushing beat juggling and scratching to a level rarely seen at the time. His deepest admiration, however, he reserves for DJ Pon.

Chi King does not need a moment to think before naming Kid Capri, citing his ability to keep a party moving at full intensity all night and crediting a personal connection through Kid Capri's brother. He recalls performing as Redman's hype man at a show where Kid Capri was DJing, describing the experience of watching him work up close as one of the highlights of his career.

DJ Swift traces his journey from the DMC battle circuit in France, where he was vice champion in 1998, through a long period touring and recording with French rock and hip hop crossover outfit Silmarils, with whom he released three albums and played stages across the world. His move to Los Angeles fifteen years ago came through a shared passion for mashups and a connection with DJ Mugs of Cypress Hill and the Soul Assassins crew, with whom he has continued to work ever since.

During that time he also collaborated with Wu Tang-affiliated artists including Shogun Assassin, Prodigal Sun and Baretta 9, and hosted a show on Wu Tang Radio. Chi King's roots run through Brooklyn's Sons of Man collective, where he was brought in by 12 O'Clock and Prodigal Sun, connecting him simultaneously to Brooklyn Zoo and the wider Wu Tang extended family.

His official industry debut came on a Prodigal Sun album, but years of navigating the business side of music eventually led him to step back and open a seven thousand square foot movie studio in Los Angeles, where artists and productions including Moneybagg Yo, Jhené Aiko, Ray Shrimmer and Hurricane Chris all worked. The studio closed in 2023 following the combined pressures of the COVID shutdown and the Hollywood writers' strike, and Chi King has since relocated to a smaller setup in Las Vegas, from which he has been releasing new material at a rapid pace throughout 2026.

The two reconnected when Swift spotted a flyer for Chi King's appearance on a radio show that his own station hosts. What began as a text message quickly became a full collaborative project. They recorded ten songs together, selected six, and plan to release the material as a trilogy titled Borough to Banlieue, with Part One serving as the sound check, Part Two as the show, and Part Three as the after-party, all delivered within a year.

The debut instalment dropped on 12 June. The title itself bridges their worlds, with banlieue meaning suburb in French, framing the project as a meeting point between Brooklyn and the outskirts of Paris. Both artists speak candidly about what drove them back to music.

Swift describes a period of disillusionment after working with a major label that wanted to shape his sound into something he did not recognise as his own, and credits time spent around DJ Mugs and the Soul Assassins as the thing that reminded him to simply work without waiting for permission. Chi King's return is rooted in grief, having lost close collaborators including 12 O'Clock and Murdoch, and in a decision to honour everyone who ever believed in him by giving his absolute best.

Among his recent releases is Stolen Sisters, written in response to the crisis of missing and murdered indigenous women in America, with fifty percent of proceeds going to victims and their families. Their message to fans and promoters alike is direct: find Borough to Banlieue on all major platforms, and get in touch via Sound Drip TV on Gmail or at the real Chi King on Instagram to book the duo for shows.

The live broadcast is planned for Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026, from 8 to 10 PM Indochina Time (ICT), with a replay scheduled for Saturday from 8 to 10 AM (ICT).
