Mista C publishes track list for new Drum and Bass show.

Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and events promoter, publishing music news and connecting audiences across the region and internationally. This Tuesday the station welcomes Drum and Bass DJ Mista C for a guest show.

Robert Cullen, performing as Mista C, is a Drum and Bass DJ originally from London with over two decades behind the decks. He picked up his first pair of turntables at fifteen, cutting his teeth on vinyl at a time when London's DnB scene was at its most formative. As a teenager he was a fixture in the city's record shops, spending whatever he earned on the latest releases and building an ear for the music long before he ever played publicly.

That passion translated into his first professional steps through pirate radio, where he held residencies on several of London's key underground stations in the early 2000s, including Freeze FM, Trilogy FM, Rampage FM and Fire FM. The experience sharpened his technical skills and put him in front of audiences that took the music seriously. Bookings from major DnB promoters followed, and in 2003 he co-founded AIR Pro

motions alongside a group of friends, running their own events across West London.

From there his path took him further afield. A residency at Es Paradis in Ibiza, playing for Helter Skelter and Innovation, placed him on the same bills as some of the more established names in the genre, including Andy C, Nicky Blackmarket, Hazard, Phantasy and Ratpack, alongside MCs Skibadee, Shabba, Fearless, Eksman and others.

For the past fourteen years Mista C has been based in Thailand, where he plays regularly across Bangkok's underground club circuit. He has recently joined the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency and radio station, and this Tuesday's show marks his next guest session on the station.

Mista C opens the guest show in deep classic territory, DJ Fresh's Dalicks and Temple Of Doom on Breakbeat Kaos setting the tone before the set moves quickly into the BC Recordings and Ram Records era that defined the early 2000s. Wots My Code's Dubplate in the Total Science Remix and DJ Die's Slow Burn featuring Ben Westbeech carry things forward before Bad Company UK's Snowcat marks the first of several appearances from the collective across the hour.

Ed Rush's Bacteria in the Pendulum Remix and Future Cut's 20/20 follow, the latter pair representing the cross-pollination between Neurofunk's harder architecture and the emerging sound of producers who would later pull the genre in a more melodic direction. The classic selections run deep and deliberate through the set's mid-section.

Bad Company's Nitrous in the Dillinja Remix, Mampi Swift's remastered Rebirth, and Dillinja's Thugged Out Bitch form a sustained peak before Shimon's Hush Hush and Roni Size's It's Jazzy on the V Classic imprint offer a brief change of register. Moving Fusion's Turbulence and Ed Rush's Pacman in the Ram Trilogy Remix keep the pace before a sequence of essential catalogue entries arrives: EZ Rollers' Ready For Love in the Clipz Remix, DJ Marky and XRS's LK featuring Stamina MC, DJ Brockie and Ed Solo's Echobox and DJ Zinc's Ska on Playaz covering a broad range of the genre's late-90s and early-2000s flavours.

The transition into the contemporary half of the set is measured rather than abrupt. Ebony Dubsters' Ra in the Original Sin Remix, Total Science's Nosher in the Baron Remix and Ram Trilogy's Screamer continue in the classic vein before Krust's Kloakin King on Full Cycle and Pendulum's Another Planet and Vault close out the older material.

Sub Focus's Timewarp VIP and Kleu's Matter VIP act as a bridge before Ray Keith's The Chopper in the Bou Remix shifts the set into its modern phase. Turno appears repeatedly across the latter half with Voyage alongside A.M.C, Active featuring Flowdan and Annix, and Tidal Wave VIP with Dominator, the South London producer's presence making him arguably the most prominent voice of the contemporary selections.

The final section moves between Jump Up and dancefloor-focused Drum and Bass with confidence. Dimension contributes Whip Slap and Don't Sleep with Culture Shock, DJ Hazard brings Mr Happy featuring D-Minds, and Kanine appears across multiple tracks including Lighter Crew, Prophecy and the Friction collaboration Your Love.

Benny Page's Headz High and Miss Fatty add a ragga-adjacent warmth before the show closes on a stretch of deeper, more considered selections: Sub Focus's Solar System, Krust's Not Necessarily A Man in the L Side Remix, Kleu's remix of Marcia Aitken's I'm Still In Love and Serum's All Ganja Man featuring MC Spyda in the Ti Remix. Mista C Guest Show 4 is a thorough document of Drum and Bass as a continuum rather than a split between past and present.
