Floating Beats 753 on Scientific Sound Asia welcomes back DJ Joshua for another edition of his long-running show. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and promoter, publishing music news and connecting audiences across the region and internationally.
Born in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has been part of electronic music culture since the mid-1990s, building his knowledge across vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital formats. His background spans House, Techno, Drum and Bass and Chillout, and even during quieter periods for Portugal’s underground scene, he stayed active through event organisation and community support.
After a period away from DJing to focus on family, he returned through Floating Beats, which has developed into a recognised outlet for deeper and more progressive electronic music. The show is built around atmosphere, controlled progression and a sense of arc that draws on his years of experience behind the decks.
Alongside the show, Joshua produces under several aliases, each covering different ground within electronic music. As Joshua Fernand, he works in modern Techno, with tracks including Blue River on MixCult Digital and Breaking Rocks and Tearing Metal on his own JFLM Recordings.
Closed Door and Open Door on Radickal Records take a darker, more hypnotic direction through tension and repetition. Killer’s Plan on Rice Bowl Recordings under the Joshua Fernand name bridges the gap, combining layered melodies with Melodic House and Techno structures.
His Joshua Marian alias sits at the deeper end, with releases including Just Love, Express Your Voice and Go Slow appearing on labels such as Yesenia, Jazz In Da House, Agua Salada Records and Wanda. That project draws on warm melodies, soulful textures and groove-led rhythmic flow rather than the harder edges of his Techno work.
The K Joshua alias moves into rawer and more experimental territory, with Promised Work on Kopoc, Stranger Things on dublucid and Slow Laziness on Ghetto Rhythms Records spanning raw and hypnotic Techno, Dub Techno and Ambient influences. These projects show the range of his studio work while keeping a clear connection to underground electronic music.
JFLM Recordings launched in 2024 as an independent platform for his own output and collaborative projects. Floating Beats 753 presents his ongoing work as a DJ and selector, with the series exploring deep, progressive and underground electronic music.
DJ Joshua presents Floating Beats 753 on Scientific Sound Asia, with a Techno-focused selection moving through Deep Techno and Peak Time Techno. The episode features music from Ness, XZXZX111, Carara, DJ Dextro, 543FF, Joshua Fernand, Raytek, Frazi.er, Luciano Esse, Planetary Assault Systems and Oculus.
Ness opens with Iridium on The Third Room, placing the programme inside Deep Techno from the first track. XZXZX111 then follows with CaÃda Libre on 091 Records, keeping the early section focused on raw and hypnotic Techno rhythm.
Carara’s Endless on Gynoid Audio extends the Deep Techno direction before DJ Dextro adds Tantooine on Illegal Alien LTD. 543FF then brings Precarious on TH Tar Hallow, keeping the opening run dense and stripped back.
Joshua Fernand appears with Holy on Tenochtitlan Recordings, linking the episode to one of DJ Joshua’s own production aliases. Carara then returns with Harpalyke on Templum Records, bringing a Peak Time Techno entry into the middle of the show.
Raytek’s Familiar Place on Sungate moves the programme back into Deep Techno. Frazi.er follows with Feeling Of The Future on EarToGround Records, keeping the centre of the episode focused on raw and hypnotic pressure.
Luciano Esse’s Certo on REBELSKIN Records and Sebastiano Pozzoni’s I'll Tell You A Story on Children Of Tomorrow continue the deep Techno line. Raho then adds It's Not The Same Thing on Contempo, keeping the late section within the same stripped and rolling framework.
Planetary Assault Systems brings Ha Jam on Ostgut Ton, adding a recognised Techno name to the closing stretch. Oculus closes Floating Beats 753 with The Divine on SCORDISCI, ending the episode with Deep Techno at the centre.
