Marco Mei has published the tracklist for episode 8 of 2021, broadcast on Saturday, the 20th of February. Scientific Sound Asia is an English-language electronic music radio station, DJ agency, music news outlet and events promoter covering electronic music across Japan, China, Thailand, Taiwan, Korea, Sri Lanka and beyond.

Marco Mei is an Italian DJ and producer with over thirty years in the industry, shaped from the outset by afrobeat, funk and the earliest wave of synthesised electronic music. You can keep up with his activity on Facebook. His path into DJing began in Italy in the early 1990s, and the years that followed took him through some of the most prominent clubs and festivals on the international circuit.

A residency at Pacha Club in Sharm-El-Sheikh provided an early foothold beyond Italy, and further appearances followed at Woo Bar, Fuse in Brussels, Room 18 in Taipei, Bangaluu in Berlin, G-Star in Pattaya, SOS Supper Club in Bali and NLO in Minsk. The artists he has appeared alongside over the years include Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Ralph Falcon, Sander Kleinenberg, Harry Choo Choo Romero, Justin Berkmann and Funk D'Void.

Bicycle Corporation, the production project he launched with Stefano Ugliano, known as 6884, in 2009, found its footing quickly through 17:44 Records. Releases across Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, GrooveTraxx, Suka and Revox have built a catalogue of over fifty tracks and remixes covering deep house, tech house, French house and techno, with support from Dubfire, Axwell, Danny Tenaglia, Mauro Picotto and Above and Beyond.

His Taipei residency has been the base for Ciao Taipei, a party that became part of the city's underground fabric from 2013 and helped widen his reach across South East Asia. He is available for bookings through the Scientific Sound Asia radio station and DJ agency.

Marco Mei's show from 20th February 2021 opens with a double dose of Ministers De La Funk and Jocelyn Brown, the Original Mix of Believe establishing a warm Soulful House tone before the Madd Gee and DJ Antonio Afro Remix 2021 reframes the same track in an Afro House context. The back-to-back placement of two versions of the same track is an unusual programming choice that works as an effective genre transition, Jocelyn Brown's vocal carrying across both registers.

DJ Kincaid's About The Music in Kenny Summit's One Two BBQ Mix and Groove Armada's Dance Our Hurt Away featuring Paris Brightledge in the Octave One Remix carry the set into House Music territory before Ella Fitzgerald's Summertime in the Thurman Love Edit arrives as one of the show's most unexpected selections. The Gershwin standard given a Soulful House treatment is a bold editorial choice and one that pays off, the timeless vocal sitting naturally within the set's groove-led framework.

Men I Trust's Break For Lovers in the Elinov Edit and Ten City's Be Free in the Emmaculate and Shannon Chambers Extended Mix sustain the soulful and gospel-inflected direction through the early mid-section before Maxinne and Moya's In The Groove returns to a more straightforward House register. Fela Kuti's International Thief Thief in the Armonica and MoBlack Extended Mix on Defected then delivers the set's most politically charged moment, the Nigerian Afrobeat pioneer's 1980 broadside against multinational corporations recontextualised within a contemporary Afro House framework.

Hyenah, DJ Tira and Luke's Ezizweni on Sondela Recordings reinforces the Afro House direction before Opprefish's Road Together and Marc Brauner's Tears Of The Fallen Angel shift into Deep House territory. James Trystan's Lupine featuring Haptic in the Omri. Remix on Disco Halal introduces an Organic House quality before Biesmans's Trains Planes Automobiles brings a Melodic House and Techno flavour to the set's mid-section.

Breno Mos, Gian Granito and Magah's Massai and Montessori and Gael Gael's Avant Garden on Nothing Is Real sustain the organic and Afro-influenced direction before Veljko Jovic's Radar provides a Tech House anchor. Keymono's A Ilha Do Reggae introduces a World Music quality before Fleetwood Mac's Dreams in the Psychemagik Crystal Visions Remix arrives as another of Marco Mei's characteristically unexpected rock edit moments, the 1977 track given a Nu Disco and Balearic treatment that suits the show's broader eclecticism well.

Fatima Yamaha's Day We Met in the Orlando Voorn Remix sustains the Nu Disco direction before Delfonic and Kapote's Sun Goddess closes the episode on a warm Disco note. Marco Mei's 20th February 2021 show is one of the most genre-diverse episodes in the series, moving between Afro House, Soulful House, Organic House and Nu Disco while maintaining a consistent sense of warmth and curatorial intent throughout.
