DJ Joshua publishes a revealing playlist for Floating Beats 754

Floating Beats 754 on Scientific Sound Asia welcomes back DJ Joshua for another edition of his long-running show. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and promoter, publishing music news and connecting audiences across the region and internationally.

Born in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has been part of electronic music culture since the mid-1990s, building his knowledge across vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital formats. His background spans House, Techno, Drum and Bass and Chillout, and even during quieter periods for Portugal’s underground scene, he stayed active through event organisation and community support.

After a period away from DJing to focus on family, he returned through Floating Beats, which has developed into a recognised outlet for deeper and more progressive electronic music. The show is built around atmosphere, controlled progression and a clear arc that draws on his years of experience behind the decks.

Alongside the show, Joshua produces under several aliases, each covering different ground within electronic music. As Joshua Fernand, he works in modern Techno, with tracks including Blue River on MixCult Digital and Breaking Rocks and Tearing Metal on his own JFLM Recordings.

Closed Door and Open Door on Radickal Records take a darker, more hypnotic direction through tension and repetition. Killer’s Plan on Rice Bowl Recordings under the Joshua Fernand name bridges the gap, combining layered melodies with Melodic House and Techno structures.

His Joshua Marian alias sits at the deeper end, with releases including Just Love, Express Your Voice and Go Slow appearing on labels such as Yesenia, Jazz In Da House, Agua Salada Records and Wanda. That project draws on warm melodies, soulful textures and groove-led rhythmic flow rather than the harder edges of his Techno work.

The K Joshua alias moves into rawer and more experimental territory, with Promised Work on Kopoc, Stranger Things on dublucid and Slow Laziness on Ghetto Rhythms Records spanning raw and hypnotic Techno, Dub Techno and Ambient influences. These projects show the range of his studio work while keeping a clear connection to underground electronic music.

JFLM Recordings launched in 2024 as an independent platform for his own output and collaborative projects. Floating Beats 754 presents his ongoing work as a DJ and selector, with the series exploring deep, progressive and underground electronic music.

DJ Joshua presents Floating Beats 754 on Scientific Sound Asia, with a selection moving through Deep Techno, Deep House, House Music, Peak Time Techno and Melodic House and Techno. The episode features music from Owain K, Demuja, Mitya Coach, Gregor Tresher, Rocco Rodamaal, D. Diggler, Justin Berkovi, Nuno Dos Santos, Joel Mull, Hollen and Rolando.

Owain K opens with Ghost Of Jupiter on 200 Records, placing the programme inside Deep Techno. Demuja then moves the episode into Deep House with EMX Jam 2 on MUJA.

Mitya Coach brings I Have My Feet on MixCult Digital, introducing Peak Time Techno into the early section. Gregor Tresher then adds Concrete Echoes on Last Night On Earth, shifting the tracklist towards Melodic House and Techno.

Rocco Rodamaal’s House Jam on Bedrock Records moves the programme into House Music. D. Diggler then returns the set to Deep Techno with Greenlight District on Lucidflow.

Justin Berkovi follows with Step Up on Somov Records, keeping the middle section locked into Deep Techno. Nuno Dos Santos then brings Homing on Haven Trax, returning the episode to House Music.

Hawkinson and Joel Mull add Groovelapolk in the Joel Mull Nordic Express remix on Phunkit Records. Nobuharu Morimoto then brings Boueisen on Say What?, keeping the late section focused on Deep Techno.

Hollen’s Temporal Grain on Planet Rhythm gives the closing stretch another Deep Techno entry. Rolando closes Floating Beats 754 with Junie in the Cinthie remix on R3 Roland Rocha Records, ending the episode in Deep House.
