Esher has published the playlist for episode 04 of Alternate Method, recorded back-to-back with guest DJ Ezmun, on Scientific Sound Asia. The platform operates as an underground electronic music radio station for Vietnam, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and wider Asia.

The episode brings Esher and Ezmun together in a shared format, placing their selections side by side across the Alternate Method series. Their back-to-back session gives the show a collaborative structure shaped by two perspectives within underground electronic music.

Esher comes from northern Melbourne, Australia, where he developed his background in music production and DJing. His work draws from Trance, Techno, Dubstep and Drum and Bass, with influences including Mad Zach, Ivy Lab, Noisia and Imanu.

His sound combines spacious atmosphere, strong basslines and detailed drum patterns. That approach allows him to move across different areas of electronic music while keeping rhythm, texture and bass weight at the centre of his selections.

Esher is currently working towards his first album release through a label. Alternate Method gives him a regular format to present new mixes, develop his beatmatching and connect with a growing listener base.

His wider aims include releasing original music, collaborating with other artists and building a broader international profile. Through the show, Esher presents a sound shaped by bass music, technical production and a broad interest in electronic experimentation. Updates and mixes can be found through his Facebook page and SoundCloud.

Guest DJ Ezmun (second hour).

Ezmun is originally from Cumbria in the United Kingdom and later relocated to Vietnam to develop his work as a DJ and producer. The impact of Covid forced a temporary move to Melbourne, where he used radio as a format to present his preferred underground sounds.

Like many DJs, Ezmun began in the bedroom before moving into house parties with close friends and peers. By 2019, he had moved into club settings, with appearances in Manchester, Hanoi, Laos and Ho Chi Minh City.

His sound draws from dark, sparse minimal half-time 140 selections and the rougher edge of percussive leftfield bass. These influences sit within energetic Techno structures, giving his sets a balance between weight, space and rhythmic impact.

Ezmun has built recognition within Vietnam’s underground scene and aims to return when circumstances allow. In the meantime, he is exploring Melbourne’s underground circuit while developing his production skills with future original releases in mind.

Cooking With Gas gave him a format to showcase friends, overlooked DJs and the styles that have shaped his own approach. His contribution to Alternate Method brings a bass-led perspective shaped by the United Kingdom, Vietnam and Australia.

Asher and Ezmun go back to back for Alternative Method 04 with a selection rooted in Drum and Bass and its deeper offshoots. Alix Perez opens the set with Someone Else, placing the early section inside Liquid Drum and Bass through his long-standing connection to precise, low-lit and emotionally controlled production.

Brendren’s Undress keeps the opening passage smooth and restrained, adding another liquid-leaning cut with a softer rhythmic edge. Anile and DRS then deepen the tone with Constant Reminder, using DRS’ vocal presence to give the first stretch a reflective and human-centred character.

Spectrasoul’s On and On extends that liquid thread, drawing on the duo’s reputation for emotive and forward-thinking Drum and Bass. Alix Perez returns with Phantonym, shifting the set away from the softer opening and towards a more technical 1985 Music-style sound.

Visages and Monty move the mix into tighter, darker Drum and Bass through Anecdote and Valid. Solace’s Never Let Go briefly restores a liquid edge before Trail’s Frames brings the sound back to a more stripped and technical rhythm.

Noisia’s Motion Blur introduces Neurofunk with a more complex and engineered structure. Jam Thieves follows with Minimal Funk, keeping the mix sharp and low-slung through a more reduced but still forceful form of Drum and Bass.

Workforce’s Your Moves gives the set another liquid passage, adding melodic control and space after the heavier section. Rider Shafique and QZB then change the mood with City On Lock, using vocal weight and detailed production to move the programme back into darker Drum and Bass territory.

Dan Structure’s Kingpin keeps the rhythm functional and direct, maintaining the harder line of the middle section. Music Squad’s Two Faced and Chainsaw’s Invadhertz push the set further into Neurofunk, with sharper sound design and more aggressive low-end pressure.

Xtrah’s Dispossessed brings a technical Drum and Bass cut into the sequence, fitting his catalogue of dark, precise and system-focused material. Fre4knc and Klinical then follow with The Shaman, keeping the set inside a colder Neurofunk frame with clean percussion and controlled bass movement.

Creatures and Sense MC’s Problem Kid adds another vocal-led Drum and Bass moment, balancing MC presence with stripped production. Enei’s Dark Move and Trail’s Pitch Dark then keep the set on a darker line, using heavier atmospheres and compact rhythmic patterns.

Molecular’s Space Journey maintains the Drum and Bass focus while giving the mix a more spacious title and sci-fi mood. Seppa’s Trust then shifts into Halftime / Bass Music, slowing the perceived rhythm and opening the set to a more broken low-end structure.

The Upbeats’ Altered States returns to Neurofunk, bringing the mix back to sharper edits and more forceful production. Posij and Former’s Sun Tracker then introduces an Experimental section, using the producers’ wider bass and electronic backgrounds to move outside a straight Drum and Bass frame.

Limewax’s Armagedong adds a Darkstep moment, using a harsher and more confrontational sound tied to the darker end of Drum and Bass. Breakage follows with Valhallah, bringing the set towards Jungle through break-led structure and heavier UK bass lineage.

Two Fingers and Ivy Lab’s Orange moves into Halftime / Bass Music, combining low-end weight with a slower rhythmic feel. Ivy Lab’s Shamrock VIP keeps that halftime focus in place, drawing from the group’s role in connecting Drum and Bass with hip hop-influenced beat music.

Chimpo’s Buzzin’ with Dub Phizix and Skeptical brings Jungle and Halftime elements together, adding a more soundsystem-driven cut to the later section. Mad Zach’s Strangeloop then pushes into Experimental territory, giving the set a more abstract electronic turn.

IMANU’s Come Forward brings the programme back to modern Drum and Bass, using the producer’s broad sound-design approach to reconnect the set with higher-tempo structure. Enei’s Sinking follows with another dark and technical selection before Tsundoku’s SiLi keeps the late section tightly controlled.

DJ Shadow’s Six Days appears in the Machinedrum remix, introducing a Breakbeat moment with a more fractured rhythmic profile. IMANU’s Dream Mentor then returns the mix to Drum and Bass, keeping the closing passage modern, detailed and rhythmically sharp.

Buunshin’s Thoughts adds another forward-facing Drum and Bass cut, matching his catalogue across VISION, Critical and related contemporary bass spaces. Subtension closes Alternative Method 04 with Unity, ending Asher and Ezmun’s back-to-back set with a technical Drum and Bass finish after a route through liquid, neurofunk, Jungle, halftime and experimental bass music.
