The Boom Bap Show, hosted by DJ Ronsha and G-Zon, stands as a cornerstone of Scientific Sound Asia’s programming, championing the raw, uncompromising essence of true Hip-Hop. Broadcast weekly, the show blends Boom Bap, Underground Hip-Hop, and Rap, serving as a vital space for seasoned purists and new-generation artists alike. As a radio station, DJ agency, and promoter, Scientific Sound Asia continues to grow its presence across Asia and beyond, offering a respected platform for authentic sounds.
G-Zon has been an influential figure in the Paris Hip-Hop scene since the 1980s, playing a key role in shaping the identity of French Boom Bap. His collaboration with DJ Ronsha led to the formation of La Meute, a collective known for its gritty lyricism and unfiltered production style.
Their partnership has stayed rooted in tradition while pushing the boundaries of underground Hip-Hop. A defining milestone in their journey was Danse Avec Les Loups, a standout release that included collaborations with notable French artists such as 20SYL of Hocus Pocus and C2C, and Black M from Sexion d’Assaut. The album earned La Meute international recognition while staying true to its underground ethos.
DJ Ronsha, also based in Paris, is widely respected for his precise production work and deep musical knowledge. As the Boom Bap Show’s lead selector and La Meute’s main producer, he curates each episode with a mix of classic cuts and fresh underground talent. His selections keep the programme grounded in Hip-Hop’s origins while always looking forward.
Together, DJ Ronsha and G-Zon have built more than just a radio show; they’ve created a movement. Through their work with La Meute, live sets, and global collaborations, they continue to link generations of Hip-Hop fans, preserving the culture’s foundation while shaping its future.
The Boom Bap Show is currently on a summer break from new episodes, but DJ Ronsha and G-Zon keep the energy alive with archive sessions full of rugged Boom Bap, underground heat, and timeless lyricism.
This Summer Series episode 32 kicks off with a heavy intro from DJ Twoda before plunging straight into neck-snapping boom bap. King Magnetic, Celph Titled, and The Four Owls deliver sharp verses and Premier's signature chops, including The 1st Time with Slug and 100%. UK and US flows merge over traditional cuts, while acts like PDotflo, HMC, and Mobb The God bring fresh intensity to the show’s opening third.
The set grows more rugged with Assault With Deadly Weapon, NY Ruffian, and the all-star chaos of R.A. the Rugged Man’s The Slayers Club, packed with heavyweights like M.O.P., Ice-T, and Brand Nubian. Even in the storm, tracks like Better Days and Soul Muzik provide thoughtful contrast.
Meanwhile, Kool G Rap leads Karats (Remix), adding mafioso authority over thunderous production.
Highlights in the final half include Shawn vs. Flair by Westside Gunn & DJ Premier and Gotta Be Dope with A-F-R-O and DJ Jazzy Jeff, proving that lyrical precision and turntablism still dominate. Conscious voices like Die-Rek and OG styles from The Bad Seed deepen the mix’s variety and thematic layers.
Closing with dark cuts like George Bondo, Grey Sunshine, Big City, and Colossus DJ Ronsha & G-Zon wrap up another summer instalment with equal parts menace, message, and mastery. It’s another sharp-edged reminder that Boom Bap lives!
