The Boom Bap Show, hosted by DJ Ronsha and G-Zon, is a key feature of Scientific Sound Asia’s programming, dedicated to preserving the pure, unfiltered spirit of true Hip-Hop. Airing weekly, the show mixes Boom Bap, Underground Hip-Hop, and Rap, providing an essential venue for both veteran purists and emerging artists. As a radio station, DJ agency, and promoter, Scientific Sound Asia is expanding its reach throughout Asia and beyond, offering a respected platform for genuine sounds.
G-Zon has been a key player in the Paris Hip-Hop scene since the 1980s, helping to shape the distinctive sound of French Boom Bap. His longstanding collaboration with DJ Ronsha gave rise to La Meute, a collective recognised for its raw lyricism and uncompromising underground style.
Their partnership blends tradition with evolution, keeping their roots firmly in Boom Bap while exploring new directions in independent Hip-Hop. A defining project in their legacy is Danse Avec Les Loups, which featured high-profile collaborations with artists like 20SYL of Hocus Pocus and C2C, and Black M of Sexion d’Assaut. The album marked a turning point for La Meute, bringing international attention without compromising their underground ethos.
DJ Ronsha, also based in Paris, is known for his sharp ear and deep knowledge of the genre. As the lead selector on the Boom Bap Show and La Meute’s primary producer, his curatorial style blends golden era influences with forward-thinking underground selections, keeping the show authentic and innovative.
Together, Ronsha and G-Zon have built a platform that goes beyond radio. Through La Meute’s output, international collaborations, and live sets, they’ve created a movement that bridges generations of Hip-Hop heads, honouring the foundations while carving out space for new voices.
While the Boom Bap Show is on a summer break from new episodes, DJ Ronsha and G-Zon continue to deliver hard-hitting archive sessions, keeping the spirit alive with rugged beats, lyrical depth, and unwavering dedication to real Hip-Hop.
This week’s Boom Bap Show kicks off with Toledo Panic Button by DNTE of Cocareef Records, a grimy opener setting the underground tone. The Times Of Grace by Endemic Emerald, featuring Ruste Juxx, Kasim Allah, and Lucky Tatt, adds weight with hard-hitting verses over a gritty beat. Zagnif Nory and BesKespt’s Ruby delivers cryptic lyrics and polished delivery, while Together by Cas Metah and Bombeardo blends soulful samples with conscious lyricism.
The middle section intensifies with cuts like Let Me Find Out by Decaf Black featuring Planet Asia, combining sharp storytelling with cinematic production. Like A Rhinoceros by Rhinoceros Funk and Tone Spliff brings classic DJ cuts and a raw street presence. Number 3 by The Opioid Era continues the boom bap barrage with its stripped-down loop and commanding flows. Meanwhile, Roccwell’s Eye Of The Storm stands out with posse-style bars from John Jigg$, Maylay Sparks, and others, giving the set a collaborative peak.
As we move forward, standouts like Dark Passenger by Novatore & C-Lance featuring Tha God Fahim merge sinister tones with gritty bars, while The Initiation by Mobb The God & Moicano Beats offers dark orchestration and mythic lyricism. Tone Liv’s Spanish Fly and Labba’s Alert bring animated, East Coast vibes, keeping the momentum sharp. The Mobb Deep tribute Still Shook by Filthy McDugal nods to hardcore nostalgia with reverence.
Closing the show, DJ Pandamonium & Calligraphy’s Over The Heads Of Pygmies blends intellectual wordplay with a dusty groove. The final punch comes from DJ M-ROK’s The Octagon (Live And Direct), which features Kool G Rap and a stacked lineup of lyrical specialists. DJ Ronsha & G-Zon continue to honour the foundations of boom bap while championing the new guard of underground talent.
