The Boom Bap Show, hosted by DJ Ronsha and G-Zon, stands as a cornerstone of Scientific Sound Asia’s programming, championing the raw, uncompromising essence of true Hip-Hop. Broadcast weekly, the show blends Boom Bap, Underground Hip-Hop, and Rap, serving as a vital space for seasoned purists and new-generation artists alike. As a radio station, DJ agency, and promoter, Scientific Sound Asia continues to grow its presence across Asia and beyond, offering a respected platform for authentic sounds.
G-Zon has been an influential figure in the Paris Hip-Hop scene since the 1980s, playing a key role in shaping the identity of French Boom Bap. His collaboration with DJ Ronsha led to the formation of La Meute, a collective known for its gritty lyricism and unfiltered production style.
Their partnership has stayed rooted in tradition while pushing the boundaries of underground Hip-Hop. A defining milestone in their journey was Danse Avec Les Loups, a standout release that included collaborations with notable French artists such as 20SYL of Hocus Pocus and C2C, and Black M from Sexion d’Assaut. The album earned La Meute international recognition while staying true to its underground ethos.
DJ Ronsha, also based in Paris, is widely respected for his precise production work and deep musical knowledge. As the Boom Bap Show’s lead selector and La Meute’s main producer, he curates each episode with a mix of classic cuts and fresh underground talent. His selections keep the programme grounded in Hip-Hop’s origins while always looking forward.
Together, DJ Ronsha and G-Zon have built more than just a radio show; they’ve created a movement. Through their work with La Meute, live sets, and global collaborations, they continue to link generations of Hip-Hop fans, preserving the culture’s foundation while shaping its future.
The Boom Bap Show is currently on a summer break from new episodes, but DJ Ronsha and G-Zon keep the energy alive with archive sessions full of rugged Boom Bap, underground heat, and timeless lyricism.
The episode begins with DJ Sensei’s boom bap-heavy intro, cutting and blending samples with a raw vinyl aesthetic. From there, The RipMobb and Epik1 dive into street warnings and sharp lyricism, while WordChemist and Slik Jack build on the lyrical precision with introspective and East Coast-styled rhymes. DJ Premier’s signature bounce is echoed in several tracks, including those by Statik Selektah and Chuck Chan, with scratching and stripped-down beats setting the tone for the episode’s first third.
Giallo Point, Tone Spliff, and DJ Modesty continue the rugged underground atmosphere, pairing MCs like Tek Tha Supah Latin and Scrooge Owens with razor-sharp cuts and no-frills loops. Yung Dmize’s horrorcore-inspired bars and BigBob’s politically fuelled ‘Jungle’ add texture and edge to this section, while lyrical voices like Ozay Moore, Pro Zay, and AV-8 bring themes of growth, self-reflection, and identity to the forefront.
As the second half unfolds, tracks like ‘Villain Story’, ‘Reloaded’, and ‘Staten’s Frontline’ shift the focus back to hardcore and street narratives, with Conway The Machine adding star power to ‘Be Who You Are’. From Squeegie O to Cousin Feo and Lord Juco, this segment highlights concept-driven writing and deeply rooted boom bap sounds. DJ TMB’s cuts in ‘Sickones’ and the thoughtful tone of ‘So Fine’ balance aggression with introspection.
Closing out the set, Skyzoo’s ‘We (Used To) Live In Brooklyn, Baby)’ offers a jazz-rap tribute to the borough’s past, leading into conscious reflections by Tahir Jahi and Isaac Castor. Dope KNife’s politically charged ‘A Million’ and Cuzzo Sosay’s fiery freestyle round off the show with urgency and hunger. Summer Series 4 reaffirms DJ Ronsha & G-Zon’s place at the helm of modern boom bap, blending lyrical craftsmanship, message-driven bars, and classic hip hop DJ energy.
