The Boom Bap Show, presented by DJ Ronsha and G-Zon, is a flagship programme on Scientific Sound Asia, committed to maintaining the authentic spirit of genuine Hip-Hop. Broadcasting each week, the show provides a powerful combination of Boom Bap, Underground Hip-Hop and Rap, serving as an important platform for both established purists and rising artists. Scientific Sound Asia continues expanding as a respected radio station, DJ agency and promoter, with extensive international reach across Asia and further afield.
G-Zon has been a central figure in the Parisian rap scene since the 1980s, contributing to the establishment of French Boom Bap. His creative partnership with DJ Ronsha resulted in the creation of La Meute, a collective recognised for uncompromising lyrics and raw production. Together, they have supported a sound grounded in tradition whilst consistently exploring creative limits.
An important achievement in their development was the release of Danse Avec Les Loups, an acclaimed project featuring collaborations with prominent French artists, including 20SYL (of Hocus Pocus and C2C) and Black M (of Sexion d'Assaut). The album brought La Meute greater international recognition whilst maintaining its underground principles.
DJ Ronsha, also based in Paris, is recognised for his sharp production and extensive musical understanding. As the show's resident DJ and La Meute's main beatmaker, his thoughtfully chosen tracks and precise mixes provide the show with its distinctive sound. Beyond playing classics, he regularly highlights emerging talent, strengthening the culture's foundations whilst supporting its progression.
Together, DJ Ronsha and G-Zon have created more than a radio show - they represent a movement. Through their work with La Meute, their live performances and their international collaborations, they continue connecting Hip-Hop fans across generations, ensuring that Boom Bap remains an essential and developing element of the culture.
Boom Bap Show 50 opens with a scratch-heavy mix from DJ Smoke before launching into golden era flavours from Stan Ipcus and Wu-Tang's Masta Killa. Tracks like Basketball & The Streets by John The Bap and You Was Always Right by Leaf Dog lean into lo-fi textures and jazzy boom bap, while the first appearance of Rob Gonzales & DJ Proof signals one of several soulful East Coast gems to follow.
The blend of legacy and freshness continues with Homeboy Sandman's quirky Bazaar and Easy Mo Bee’s unmistakable touch on Hip Hop Forever. As the show progresses, raw street raps from Showrocka, Sticky Fingaz and Mickey Bourbon meet sharp scratch work from Tone Spliff, who adds polish to For The Day and Proof. Elsewhere, uplifting messages and mellow soul loops colour tracks like B-Happy, MMHMM by Blu & ScienZe, and Elevate by Fenix, Flo & Johnny Slash.
Contrast comes via the sinister posse cut Battleground with Jarren Benton and Novatore, whose dark horrorcore tones break through the mellow midsection with unfiltered aggression. Deeper into the set, Sadida, Skinny Bonez and LMNO carry forward strong political themes with cuts like Create More Art and Bloody White Flags, while the pacing shifts again with heavy hitters like Rome Streetz, Method Man and Nems.
Regional shoutouts arrive with NC Shit and It’s A Go, keeping the underground spirit alive from North Carolina to the Midwest. Satirical edges appear in White Girl Gang Signs, while Remission by Royal Flush delivers emotional weight and stark vulnerability.
Closing the episode is a stretch of dense lyricism and atmospheric production, with standouts like A Time For War, L.H.O.O.Q., and Black Cinema digging into existential, artistic, and historical themes. Martial arts metaphors surface on Wax On Wax Off, while Heart On My Sleeve and Never Fade bring final moments of honesty and soul. The 50th Boom Bap Show stands tall with a comprehensive selection that showcases every facet of underground and conscious hip hop.
