The Boom Bap Show, hosted by DJ Ronsha and G-Zon, is a flagship programme on Scientific Sound Asia, dedicated to preserving the raw essence of authentic Hip-Hop. Broadcasting weekly, the show delivers a potent mix of Boom Bap, Underground Hip-Hop, and Rap, acting as a vital outlet for both seasoned purists and emerging artists. Scientific Sound Asia continues to grow as a respected radio station, DJ agency, and promoter, with a broad international presence across Asia and beyond.

G-Zon has been a pivotal figure in the Parisian rap scene since the 1980s, helping shape the foundation of French Boom Bap. His creative alliance with DJ Ronsha led to the formation of La Meute, a collective known for uncompromising lyricism and gritty production. Together, they’ve championed a sound rooted in tradition while continually pushing creative boundaries.

A key milestone in their evolution was the release of Danse Avec Les Loups, a celebrated project that featured collaborations with major French artists including 20SYL (of Hocus Pocus and C2C) and Black M (of Sexion d’Assaut). The album brought La Meute wider international attention while staying true to its underground ethos.

DJ Ronsha, also based in Paris, is known for his crisp production and deep musical knowledge. As the show’s resident DJ and La Meute’s primary beatmaker, his carefully selected tracks and tight mixes give the show its signature sound. Beyond spinning classics, he consistently shines a light on new talent, reinforcing the culture’s roots while championing its future.

Together, DJ Ronsha and G-Zon have built more than a radio show, they embody a movement. Through their work with La Meute, their live events, and their global collaborations, they continue to connect generations of Hip-Hop fans, ensuring that Boom Bap remains a vital and evolving part of the culture.

Episode 398 kicks off with Tone Spliff’s intro jingle before Tha God Fahim, Nicholas Craven, and Jay Nice open the lyrical floodgates on “Tha Company”. Rob Gonzales & DJ Proof’s “Falling Down” adds grit with Lord Goat’s hard delivery, while UK duo Outstraight & Verb T deliver “Contrast”, laced with thoughtful Boom Bap verses. Raf Almighty, Fel Sweetenberg & Guy Grams up the intensity on “Losing Intro” before The Doppelgangaz throw in experimental flair on “How I’ve Lived”.

RA K7NG & DJ Kawon go deep on “97”, while Propo’88 & Self The Bluest Eye smooth things out with lo-fi charm on “City Thing”. “Hard Pressed” by P-Rawb & Big O taps into conscious zones, followed by explosive cuts like “I Bomb Atomically” by O The Great and “Gore Hounds” from Novatore and Tone Spliff, diving into horrorcore territory. Ali The Great’s “Unlearning” balances that with introspective bars, while Chase Fetti and company heat things up with East Coast street talk on “Throne”.

Napoleon Da Legend links with Clypto for the sharp “Andare Via”, and Him Lo & Shar The Analog Bastard carry that raw energy forward on “Bloodline Of Da Godz”. Stu Bangas & Horror City come through with “Rock The Stage”, featuring Rhyme Va-Lor and cuts by A-F-R-O, while MRKBH & Rico James recruit Sadat X for the standout “Chief Cornerstone”. Paula Perry blesses “The Headline” with Rob Gonzales & DJ Proof, before The Doppelgangaz return with more oddball brilliance on “Never The Twain Shall Meet”.

Raf Almighty, The Bad Seed, and Fel Sweetenberg go all in on “Must Be Crazy”, Bleach and crew bring lo-fi boom on “Give Me A Mic”, and the Horror City crew return with “Fight And Fuck”. The grimy vibe continues with “Circle Of Goats II” from Novatore and Lord Goat. “Bring Da Ruckus Vol. 2” from Lingo’s Grind Mode Cypher keeps the energy live, and Taiyamo Denku, Thrust OG, and BoFaat push a hardcore finish on “Dynamite”. The back end of the show includes Ralphiie Reese’s “Luv Put Me On Tha Corner”, “Godz Inc.” by Nowaah The Flood, and “Verbal Canvas” from Eclyse & Ginsing.

The finale brings cinematic boom bap from Tha Soloist & Allah Watts on “Sonata”, followed by more horror-fuelled bars from Novatore on “Hyenas”. Sonnyjim & Morlockko Plus’s “Yellowsmileyface” feat. Crimeapple adds an experimental edge, while Flu & Delicasteez hit twice with “Fifteen Summers” and “Sonny’s Rage”.

Outstraight & Verb T return for a UK conscious closer on “Winds Of Change”, and the show wraps with the melancholic “Remembering Home” from Kice Of Course and the hardcore anthem “Shovels” by Money Mogly. Finally, Substance810 & Haas Almahdi round things off with the powerful “Death Blows” featuring Philmore Greene, WateRR & DJ Rhettmatic, a sharp finish to a stacked session.
