The Boom Bap Show, hosted by DJ Ronsha and G-Zon, stands as one of the flagship programmes on Scientific Sound Asia. Dedicated to preserving the true essence of Hip-Hop, the weekly broadcast delivers a finely curated mix of Boom Bap, Underground Hip-Hop, and Rap.
It has developed into an essential platform for both established legends and emerging talent, reinforcing Scientific Sound Asia’s reputation as a respected radio station, DJ agency, and event organiser, with a following that stretches across Asia and beyond.
G-Zon has been a key figure in the Paris rap scene since the 1980s, recognised for his influence in advancing the French Boom Bap movement. His enduring partnership with DJ Ronsha led to the formation of La Meute, a collective celebrated for its uncompromising lyricism and raw beats.
Their devotion to Hip-Hop’s foundations has never wavered, even as they continue to innovate and inspire. Among their notable achievements is the album Danse Avec Les Loups, which featured collaborations with French heavyweights including 20SYL (Hocus Pocus, C2C) and Black M (Sexion d’Assaut). The project extended La Meute’s reach internationally while maintaining its underground authenticity.
Based in Paris, DJ Ronsha is widely respected for his precise production style and encyclopaedic musical knowledge, crafting sets that connect Hip-Hop’s golden age with its evolving present. Together, DJ Ronsha and G-Zon have created more than just a radio show; they have fostered a movement that unites Hip-Hop enthusiasts across cultures and generations, ensuring the genre’s past and future remain deeply connected.
Boom Bap Show 58 begins with DJ Enyoutee setting the tone, before Señor Kaos & Illastrate spark the first wave of energy with Talm Bout. Datkid & Mylo Stone’s Don’t Get Caught follows with gritty delivery, while Perfect Pete aka Cuban Pete teams up with DJ Wiz for The Ovule, featuring OneMike & Jabbathakut. Salute Da Kidd & Bronze Nazareth enter with Rock Magician and Sliders, blending sharp lyricism with heavyweight beats alongside Termanology, Recognize Ali, and June Megalodon. These opening sequences root the set firmly in boom bap while weaving in modern East Coast influences.
Momentum builds as Alan Z & DJ Rhettmatic deliver live cuts on Live On Stage, while Wais P, The Musalini & Statik Selektah take a smooth but raw approach on Return Of The Mack. Jamil Honesty & JR Swiftz keep the East Coast grit with 94 Nas and Summer 90s, channelling golden-era inspiration. Señor Kaos & Illastrate return with Martin and Same Damn Thang, while Tha Soloist & Solo Picasso bring a darker edge on Cremation. Salute Da Kidd resurfaces with Grandma’s Prayers, showing his depth. At the same time, Stevin King experiments with freestyle vibes on Jimmy Jump.
As the set continues, DJ Mirage, M-Dot & Big Shug team up with M.O.P.’s Lil Fame for the hard-hitting Lift Up. Rakim & Big Ghost Ltd. step in with Be Ill, joined by Eddie Kaine and Rim, reminding listeners of true East Coast pedigree. Crotona P, Che Noir, and Van Gunz each carry underground narratives with strong features, while Pro Dillinger & Futurewave bring street energy on Church St. and King. Rakim returns with Pendulum, an all-star collaboration with Canibus, Chino XL, KXNG Crooked, and LA The Darkman, standing as one of the highlights of the show.
The closing stretch is equally powerful. Soviets, featuring Planet Asia and Moka Only, inject an alternative flavour on Pumpernickel, while Domo Genesis & Graymatter add West Coast flavour with Church’s Chicken. Evil Bastards and J. Depina contribute Power & Money, highlighting underground collectives. The show rounds off with Hatch Wiseguy, 38 Spesh & Grimey Chops on Yikes, leaving a sharp final impression. With over three hours of music, Boom Bap Show 58 shows the depth of the culture, from underground lyricists to hip hop legends, keeping boom bap, East Coast and underground hip hop alive through DJ Ronsha & G-Zon’s dedicated curation.
