DJ Loxley, originally from Nottingham, grew up in the heart of the United Kingdom’s 1990s rave movement. This formative era, defined by hardcore and jungle mixtapes, pirate radio culture and the excitement of underground gatherings, shaped his earliest understanding of electronic music.
Influential figures such as DJ Seduction, DJ Hype, Mickey Finn and Grooverider guided his musical direction, grounding him in the fast-evolving sound of jungle and drum and bass. BBC Radio 1’s pioneering programme One in the Jungle, hosted by Fabio and Grooverider, became a key part of his musical education, helping him appreciate the deeper rhythmic and emotional dimensions of the genre.
While studying at university, Loxley broadened his interests through UK Garage and began performing vinyl-only DJ sets. A weekly residency on Sheffield Live community radio allowed him to refine his skills, explore new styles and expand his sonic identity.
After stepping away from music for a period, a Marcus Intalex mix in 2012 reignited his passion, inspiring him to return to record collecting and DJing. Drawn once again to the melodic and expressive styles of artists like Calibre, Intalex, Fabio and Marky, he reconnected with the sound that first sparked his journey.
Now based in Asia, where he has spent nearly two decades between Thailand and Vietnam, DJ Loxley showcases a wide spectrum of drum and bass. His sets move fluidly between deep and atmospheric moods, soulful rollers and high-energy selections, blending the heritage of his UK roots with the diverse sound of the modern global scene. Thoughtful, authentic and continually evolving, his approach offers listeners an immersive window into drum and bass culture.
The episode begins with a warm Liquid Funk direction as Wounds sets an emotional opening tone. Eb & Flow follows with its soulful lift, before a return to Wounds strengthens the early flow. Atlantic Drift adds a cinematic touch, and Space Cake moves the session toward a deeper, rolling feel.
The mood continues rising through Sway and Funny How, both guiding the first stretch with a gentle and expressive liquid character. Momentum builds as Feel This Pain introduces a more reflective mood, followed by the deep, polished movement of Cold Neon.
Woodwind shifts slightly toward a minimal style, while SnB and Klondike return the mix to a smoother, melodic groove. Drawn Out carries this forward with a calm emotional weight, before Space Pig and Attic Jazz add atmospheric and jazzy touches. Something For The Weekend and Sample Theory keep the mid-section balanced and fluid.
The energy lifts as Play Skool and Harry bring a sharper edge, followed by Detroiting, which blends liquid influences with a modern, tech-leaning attitude. Bella Forte and Andromeda push deeper again, setting up a smooth transition into Nebula and Bounty Killah, each adding their own take on rolling liquid.
Hot Wheels and Ground and Pound introduce darker shades, while Short Life and Current return the mix to a gentler forward motion. The final sequence widens the mood as Cuban Heel, Night Crawler and Payback Pt. 2 bring a dark-leaning liquid edge.
Obnoxious and Uninhabited follows with clean minimal influences, while Print Error moves into a more experimental style. The closing stretch highlights the depth of the session with Universe, Someone Talk and Leave Me, before Awake gives a subtle autonomic lift. The show ends on a strong note with Infinity, Adrenaline Levels, Change, PTO, Granville and the reflective On An Island, completing a deeply curated Liquid Funk and Drum and Bass journey.
Join the live broadcast on Thursday, November 27th, from 8 PM to 10 PM Indochina Time (ICT). A replay will be accessible on Monday from 8 AM to 10 AM (ICT).
