DJ Loxley, originally from Nottingham, grew up immersed in the energy of the United Kingdom’s 1990s rave culture. This was a defining period shaped by hardcore and jungle mixtapes, pirate radio stations and the excitement of underground gatherings across the country.
Early exposure to influential DJs such as DJ Seduction, DJ Hype, Mickey Finn and Grooverider played a major role in guiding his musical direction and grounding him in the evolving sound of jungle and drum and bass. The BBC Radio 1 programme One in the Jungle with Fabio and Grooverider became an important part of his musical education.
It helped him understand the deeper rhythmic and emotional layers of drum and bass. During his university years, Loxley broadened his interests by exploring UK Garage and performing vinyl-only sets. A weekly residency on Sheffield Live community radio allowed him to refine his skills and expand his sonic palette.
After taking a step back from music, a Marcus Intalex mix reignited his passion in 2012 and inspired him to return to record collecting and DJing. Drawn once again to the melodic and expressive styles of artists such as Calibre, Intalex, Fabio and Marky, he reconnected with the sound that first inspired his journey.
Now based in Asia, where he has spent almost two decades between Thailand and Vietnam, DJ Loxley showcases the full breadth of drum and bass. His sets move between deep and atmospheric textures, soulful rollers and high energy selections, combining the heritage of his UK roots with the global sound of the modern scene. His approach remains authentic and thoughtful, offering listeners an immersive and continually evolving experience of drum and bass culture.
The episode eases in with soulful and melodic liquid selections, led by Seba and Marina Samba’s Whatever You Feel and the atmospheric tone of Skogsrået. Silence Groove and Dash keep the early movement smooth, bringing a steady, warm liquid flow. FD and Lenzman’s Cold Neon deepens the mood, followed by a reflective instrumental cut in Sing About Me, setting a confident start to the mix.
The groove widens as Furney’s characterful liquid style lifts the pace, blending naturally with Joakuim’s jazz-leaning Soul Jazz. Dash and Furney return with rolling Liquid Drum and Bass contributions before Footnotes adds depth through These Times. SUNANDBASS and Overview Music enrich the journey with vocal-driven and deeper liquid touches, giving the set its emotive centre.
Middle-section intensity grows through Infrared’s melodic approach and a run of standout liquid tracks from Anile, Random Movement and Flowrian. Calibre’s unmistakable sound on Grabber adds weight, while dBridge and Zero T guide the mix toward deeper tones. A strong wave of classic Liquid Funk arrives from Intelligent Manners, Command Strange and Workforce, balancing rhythm and melody with ease.
The final stretch closes with a refined progression, moving through A Sides, Alix Perez and Bungle before shifting into expressive contributions from Wagz, Marcus Intalex and M-Zine. The session winds down through warm rolling flavours from MSDOS and Dilemma, finishing with Mark System, Mantra, Mr Joseph and a classic Hospital cut from Nu:Tone, rounding out a cohesive liquid-focused broadcast from DJ Loxley.
Join the live broadcast on Thursday, November 20th, from 8 PM to 10 PM Indochina Time (ICT). A replay will be accessible on Monday from 8 AM to 10 AM (ICT).
