Floating Beats 749 on Scientific Sound Asia welcomes back DJ Joshua for another edition of his long-running show. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and promoter, publishing music news and connecting audiences across the region and internationally.
Born in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has been part of electronic music culture since the mid-1990s, building his knowledge across vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital formats. His background spans House, Techno, Drum and Bass and Chillout, and even during quieter periods for Portugal’s underground scene, he stayed active through event organisation and community support.
After a period away from DJing to focus on family, he returned through Floating Beats, which has developed into a recognised outlet for deeper and more progressive electronic music. The show is built around atmosphere, controlled progression and a sense of arc that draws on his years of experience behind the decks.
Alongside the show, Joshua produces under several aliases, each covering different ground within electronic music. As Joshua Fernand, he works in modern Techno, with tracks including Blue River on MixCult Digital and Breaking Rocks and Tearing Metal on his own JFLM Recordings.
Closed Door and Open Door on Radickal Records take a darker, more hypnotic direction through tension and repetition. Killer’s Plan on Rice Bowl Recordings under the Joshua Fernand name bridges the gap, combining layered melodies with Melodic House and Techno structures.
His Joshua Marian alias sits at the deeper end, with releases including Just Love, Express Your Voice and Go Slow appearing on labels such as Yesenia, Jazz In Da House, Agua Salada Records and Wanda. That project draws on warm melodies, soulful textures and groove-led rhythmic flow rather than the harder edges of his Techno work.
The K Joshua alias moves into rawer and more experimental territory, with Promised Work on Kopoc, Stranger Things on dublucid and Slow Laziness on Ghetto Rhythms Records spanning raw and hypnotic Techno, Dub Techno and Ambient influences. These projects show the range of his studio work while keeping a clear connection to underground electronic music.
JFLM Recordings launched in 2024 as an independent platform for his own output and collaborative projects. Floating Beats 749 presents his ongoing work as a DJ and selector, with the series continuing to explore deep, progressive and underground electronic music.
This Techno selection moves through raw, deep and hypnotic pressure, with a compact structure built around Deep Techno and a small number of contrasting turns. Shlomi Aber and Kashpitzky open with Retrospective in its Intro Version, setting a restrained and focused tone through Klockworks.
Carara’s Tool 001 follows on Casanova Bar Records, adding the selection’s main Peak Time Techno entry. Local Analyst then brings the sound back into raw and hypnotic territory with Right Handed Scissors, using SCORDISCI’s stripped and functional club framework.
A.Paul’s Chronostasis continues the deep Techno direction through Naked Lunch, keeping the rhythm tight and system-focused. Joel Mull then adds Pressure Blome on Stunden, extending the hypnotic drive with a more pressure-led arrangement.
Louis The 4th’s Archive 5 introduces Electronica through Bunkers Collective, giving the selection a brief textural shift. Oculus then returns to SCORDISCI with Ghanima, restoring the raw, deep and hypnotic pulse.
Iglo’s Kauriraris brings Figure into the mix, keeping the sound reduced, dark and club-centred. Jerical follows with Unrest on Recorded Things, adding another raw Techno passage before Luciano Esse’s Certo continues the same underground pressure.
S-File’s Sirens on GND Records keeps the late section firmly inside Techno, using direct percussion and tension as the main tools. Uncertain then adds Phrase on Symbolism, reinforcing the hypnotic structure through a focused and repetitive groove.
Joshua Fernand’s Divine appears on Tenochtitlan Recordings, placing one of his own productions inside the closing run. Truncate closes the selection with The Trip, ending on a raw and deep Techno cut from one of the most direct names in the modern minimal techno circuit.
Be sure to catch his live radio show on Monday, June 29th, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). If you miss the live broadcast, you can listen to the replay on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. (ICT).
