Floating Beats 750 on Scientific Sound Asia welcomes back DJ Joshua for another edition of his long-running show. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and promoter, publishing music news and connecting audiences across the region and internationally.
Born in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has been part of electronic music culture since the mid-1990s, building his knowledge across vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital formats. His background spans House, Techno, Drum and Bass and Chillout, and even during quieter periods for Portugal’s underground scene, he stayed active through event organisation and community support.
After a period away from DJing to focus on family, he returned through Floating Beats, which has developed into a recognised outlet for deeper and more progressive electronic music. The show is built around atmosphere, controlled progression and a sense of arc that draws on his years of experience behind the decks.
Alongside the show, Joshua produces under several aliases, each covering different ground within electronic music. As Joshua Fernand, he works in modern Techno, with tracks including Blue River on MixCult Digital and Breaking Rocks and Tearing Metal on his own JFLM Recordings.
Closed Door and Open Door on Radickal Records take a darker, more hypnotic direction through tension and repetition. Killer’s Plan on Rice Bowl Recordings under the Joshua Fernand name bridges the gap, combining layered melodies with Melodic House and Techno structures.
His Joshua Marian alias sits at the deeper end, with releases including Just Love, Express Your Voice and Go Slow appearing on labels such as Yesenia, Jazz In Da House, Agua Salada Records and Wanda. That project draws on warm melodies, soulful textures and groove-led rhythmic flow rather than the harder edges of his Techno work.
The K Joshua alias moves into rawer and more experimental territory, with Promised Work on Kopoc, Stranger Things on dublucid and Slow Laziness on Ghetto Rhythms Records spanning raw and hypnotic Techno, Dub Techno and Ambient influences. These projects show the range of his studio work while keeping a clear connection to underground electronic music.
JFLM Recordings launched in 2024 as an independent platform for his own output and collaborative projects. Floating Beats 750 presents his ongoing work as a DJ and selector, with the series exploring deep, progressive and underground electronic music.
DJ Joshua presents episode 750 of Floating Beats on Scientific Sound Asia, with a focused selection moving through Techno, Deep Techno, House Music and Peak Time Techno. The episode features music from D-Leria, DJ Bone, Conrad Van Orton, Hertz, Uncertain, Greg Gow, The Exaltics and DJ HMC.
D-Leria opens with Filterbank on AMOTIK, setting a direct Techno tone before Boca Boca and Format bring two House entries into the early section. The Reducer and Tjirp give the opening a looser rhythmic contrast before the mix moves into deeper Techno territory.
DJ Bone’s Critical introduces the Raw / Deep / Hypnotic Techno section, followed by Conrad Van Orton’s City Roaming and Hertz’s Paris To Lisbon. Uncertain’s Praise on RSPX keeps the pressure restrained and functional, with a stripped rhythm that suits the central part of the episode.
Perroxx continues that direction with Dream, while Greg Gow’s Electronic Impulses adds a Detroit-rooted Techno reference through Restructured Recordings. R.M.K.’s Keys then keeps the hypnotic structure in place, holding the mix inside a lean and reduced framework.
The Exaltics’ Rising Sun appears in the Alden Tyrell and Serge remix, adding a rawer electronic edge before the final transition. DJ HMC closes the episode with LSD on Reflector, shifting the set into Peak Time Techno for a stronger finish.
Don't miss his live radio show on Tuesday, July 7th, 2026, between 4 and 6 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). If you can't catch it live, tune in to the replay on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. (ICT).
