French DJ and producer DJ King Flow has revealed the playlist and special guest for the latest instalment of his acclaimed weekly programme, Mixtape Addict. This week’s episode features an exclusive interview with the highly respected Vincent M Ward, further reinforcing the show’s standing as a premier platform for underground hip-hop culture. Scientific Sound Asia, a major force in the Asian music scene, continues to support the series through its role as a radio station, event organiser, and DJ agency.

DJ King Flow, a remarkable talent from France, began his musical journey at just 14 years old and has since cultivated a unique presence within the international hip-hop scene. Renowned for his high-energy mixtapes and forward-thinking vision, he has received praise for challenging genre norms while remaining rooted in hip-hop’s core traditions.

At the forefront of modern hip-hop production, DJ King Flow is known for his innovative mixing techniques and genre-spanning creativity. His collaborative work with influential artists such as Ras Kass, Torae, Juicy J, Tragedy Khadafi, O.C., and Khujo Goodie of Goodie Mob underscores his versatility and wide-reaching respect within the global rap community.

His music transcends borders, serving as a powerful conduit for storytelling, emotion, and cultural exchange. Through relentless dedication to his craft, DJ King Flow continues to inspire both emerging artists and long-time fans, establishing himself as a leading voice in contemporary hip-hop.

Since launching his career in 2012, he has built meaningful connections across key American cities, including New York, Dallas, Providence, Miami, and Seattle. Together with long-time collaborator Young Amsterdam, he has nurtured a thriving, cross-border rap community. Their shared passion for authentic hip-hop has taken them on extensive travels across the United States, fostering partnerships and encouraging creative collaboration.

In 2015, DJ King Flow introduced Mixtape Addict, a radio show that quickly gained traction on stations worldwide. By 2019, the platform expanded with Mixtape Addict Report, a video interview series that offered in-depth conversations with key figures in hip-hop. Touring France, Canada, and New York, the series marked a new chapter in delivering raw, unfiltered hip-hop journalism to international audiences.

With Rick Hyde joining this week’s episode, Mixtape Addict continues to champion voices that define and challenge the boundaries of hip-hop. DJ King Flow’s commitment to showcasing authentic artistry and his dedication to connecting global rap communities remain at the heart of his ever-evolving legacy.

Interview Guest: Vincent M Ward.

Vincent M. Ward is best known to many as a seasoned actor from Dayton, Ohio, widely recognised for his powerful portrayal of Oscar in AMC’s The Walking Dead. However, beyond his television and film career, Ward has also built a meaningful presence in the world of hip-hop, blending performance, poetry, and music into a multi-dimensional creative journey.

His upcoming interview on our hip-hop radio show marks a significant opportunity to explore the full range of his artistic expression, particularly his roots and ongoing work in the music world.

In addition to a long list of acting credits, which includes roles in major productions such as Traffic, Ocean’s Eleven, The Starter Wife, True Blood, NCIS, and Everybody Hates Chris, Ward has cultivated a deep connection with hip-hop culture.

He is a firm believer in the authenticity of real hip-hop, often using his platform to celebrate lyricism, originality, and raw emotional expression. In 2012, he released a spoken word album titled Eargasms (Don’t Talk Just Listen), a bold project that fused poetry, social commentary, and rhythmic flow.

The album served as a showcase for Ward’s lyrical storytelling abilities and reflected his appreciation for the foundations of hip-hop: message-driven content and personal truth.

Ward continues to engage with the hip-hop world not only through his own work but also by promoting independent artists and lyricists who share his commitment to substance over hype.

Through his social media platforms, particularly Instagram, he regularly shares reels and commentary that highlight his respect for underground hip-hop and the elements that make it timeless: bars, beats, and authenticity. He’s also been featured in recent interviews and posts alongside hip-hop creatives, including DJ King Flow, as part of his efforts to support the genre and stay involved in its evolution.

Now bringing his voice to our hip-hop radio show, Vincent M. Ward will discuss his dual life in film and music, share stories from his journey through Hollywood, and open up about his love for boom bap, lyricism, and the power of hip-hop storytelling. This is more than just a guest appearance, it's a convergence of two worlds: television and hip-hop culture, both of which Ward inhabits with equal conviction.

Whether on screen or behind the mic, Vincent M. Ward represents creativity with purpose, and his contributions to both entertainment and music continue to resonate with fans of real, uncompromising artistry. As we welcome him to the show, listeners can expect insight, honesty, and a deep dive into the intersection of hip-hop music, spoken word, and the lived experience of one of television’s most recognisable talents.

The first part of the mix opens strong with REKS & Artisin’s “Super Powers” and Agallah’s gritty “The Hart Of New York”, grounding the session in Boom Bap and East Coast fundamentals. Casablanca The Gawd and Che Noir keep the lyrical intensity alive with “Readings On The Wall”, while Young Nolia and Lex Lakaiser bring raw, freestyle-driven bars and underground grit.

Nejma Nefertiti elevates the energy with “C Train”, weaving in conscious themes over Boom Bap drums. The transition to West Coast vibes is seamless as Xzibit teams up with Redman and B-Real on “Higher”, blending hardcore tones with Californian bounce, followed by “Notified” featuring King Tee and Cold187um with a smooth G-Funk edge. Lloyd Banks shows up fierce on “Upper Echelon”, adding hardcore East Coast punch.

Midway through, Shabaam Sahdeeq & Sol Messiah’s “Aten” keeps the underground pressure on, paving the way for “4 Horsemen” by Styles P, Snyp Life, MC Supra & Mic Terrio—a hardcore anthem. Dialect Sosa’s “Running” and Obleak’s “Think Critical” (featuring cuts by Tone Spliff) continue the Boom Bap barrage with underground finesse, keeping the session tight and uncompromising.

Closing out the first half, Snoop Dogg makes a double appearance with “Unsung Heroes” and “Can’t Wait” alongside LaRussell, tapping into smooth West Coast rhythms. Point And Clique’s “Everywhere We Go” returns to Boom Bap basics, just before Nas, Jadakiss & Ludacris light up the remix of “Made You Look”. The hour finishes with DJ King Flow’s exclusive interview with Vincent M Ward, offering insight into hip hop culture from the perspective of a multi-talented actor, artist and producer.

The live broadcast is scheduled for Tuesday, May 27th, 2025, from 8 PM to 10 PM Indochina Time (ICT), with a replay set for Saturday from 8 AM to 10 AM (ICT).
