Starting his career at just 14, DJ King Flow quickly developed a signature style centred on Boom Bap with a modern twist. His sets reflect a deep respect for the genre’s foundations while staying committed to lyrical authenticity, a balance that has earned him recognition across the global underground scene.

Over the years, he has collaborated with icons such as Ras Kass, Tragedy Khadafi, O.C., Juicy J, and Khujo Goodie, bridging generations of artists while staying true to the culture. Interview Guest: Rhyme Assassin.

Rhyme Assassin, real name Tichaona Monera, is a Zimbabwean-born hip hop artist now based in the UK. He grew up in Highfield, Harare, where his passion for rap developed through battle sessions and live performances.

His breakthrough came in 2014 with the track Party People featuring T9yce, which dominated Zimbabwean radio charts and cemented his status as one of the leading voices from his home country. After relocating to the UK, Rhyme Assassin took time away from music but returned stronger in 2012 after meeting producer Deep Voice.

Since then, he has steadily built his catalogue and reputation through consistent releases and collaborations with respected artists. He is the founder of Uncle Rhymes Records, his independent label that provides a platform for both his own work and emerging talent.

His recent work has seen him push further into the global scene, with notable collaborations including Run Em Up in 2025 alongside M.O.P and Ruste Juxx, produced by The Arcitype, which gained traction on US college radio. Another standout is Be Mighty, also released in 2025, featuring Stic.man from Dead Prez and Wayne Gidden, further showcasing his ability to work with internationally acclaimed artists.

Rhyme Assassin’s lyrical style is marked by sharp punchlines, socially conscious themes, and a battle rap edge. His music bridges his Zimbabwean roots with a gritty East Coast-inspired delivery, making him a unique figure in both African and UK hip hop. Through his label and his collaborations, he continues to raise the profile of Zimbabwean hip hop while carving out his place in the global underground.

The show opens in explosive fashion with three standout tracks from Rhyme Assassin, including Rhyme Apostles featuring legends such as Craig G, Reks, and K-Solo, and the rugged Run Em Up with M.O.P. and Ruste Juxx. Be Mighty featuring Sticman of Dead Prez keeps the conscious edge alive while Wayne Gidden adds soulful weight. Black Silver follows with It Was Written, blending storytelling with sharp lyricism, before PS The Great and Planet Asia bring pure boom bap flavour on Juxx.

Momentum builds with East Coast energy as Dave East & Young Chris trade sharp bars on Ain’t Adding Up, while Junya Boy’s What Y’All Want To brings a Southern bounce. Big Sant & Redcoat Da Poet’s Hoggndalane pushes into hardcore territory, contrasting with Contageous Funk’s No Way Out and the darkly atmospheric Haunted Remix from Obleak & Necro. Sevin Soprano & Lord Willin deliver grit with Top Dogs, before Lex Lakaiser shines with the reflective I Still Shine.

Tone Spliff adds his trademark cuts on Big Deal with Kahlee and Sam R.I, while Thought Provokah’s Nice Ain’t Free underscores the show’s conscious hip hop presence. Nasteeluvzyou and Reks collaborate on Free, keeping lyrical depth at the forefront, before M-Dot, Confidence, Big Shug & Royal Flush deliver the classic boom bap anthem Primavera. DJ King Flow steps into the spotlight with Win Or Lose alongside Imam T.H.U.G., before linking with Lex Lakaiser and Young Amsterdam for International, expanding the show’s global reach.

The episode closes with an in-depth interview with Rhyme Assassin, highlighting his career, collaborations, and dedication to keeping boom bap and underground hip hop alive. Through both the music and conversation, Mixtape Addict 66 offers a raw, authentic showcase of lyricism and beats, reinforcing DJ King Flow’s show as a space for true hip hop culture.
