DJ Joshua has released the playlists for his weekly shows, 'Floating Beats' and 'Velvety Elements'. Scientific Sound Asia serves as the region's premier electronic music station, promoter, and DJ agency, with a growing global following.
Hailing from Evora, Portugal, DJ Joshua is renowned for his vast collection of electronic dance music. His passion for gathering various genres spans multiple formats, including digital, vinyl, compact discs, and tapes.
During his teenage years, Joshua was deeply immersed in collecting Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout tracks. He dedicated countless hours at home, perfecting his skills as a DJ and meticulously organizing his extensive music library.
In the early 90s, rave music faced significant resistance and was absent from Portuguese airwaves. Undeterred, Joshua secured residencies at local stations after much persistence, bringing the vibrant sounds of rave to a wider audience.
Joshua's reputation grew as he started hosting events at clubs and bars with his close allies, establishing himself both in his hometown and beyond. After becoming a father, he took a break from performing and radio work but eventually felt the pull to return to his roots.
This led to the creation of the Floating Beats podcast and radio series, which has gained a loyal following over the years and is featured on several prominent online platforms. His passion for music continued to evolve, leading him to launch another show, Velvety Elements, focusing on the deeper, more soulful side of House Music.
Both of his podcasts have been broadcast internationally, including on Scientific Sound Asia over the past two years. Joshua believes that "Music is an art form. The fusion of elements can convey emotions and make the body move. This is a place where you hear sounds that can float and end up falling onto your body. Enjoy it."
Each week, Joshua explores a diverse mix of House Music and Techno sub-genres, including Deep House, Tech House, Melodic House, Detroit Techno, Soulful House, Progressive House, Techno, Vocal House, and Melodic Techno.
