Bicycle Corporation introduce guest DJ Sivanesh for episode 5 of Electronic Roots on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and promoter publishing music news and connecting artists and audiences across the region and internationally.

Bicycle Corporation is the Italian duo formed by Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano, known as 6884. Their collaboration combines backgrounds in house and techno, drawing from both club culture and broader musical influences to create a sound that balances dancefloor energy with melodic depth.

Marco Mei came up through Italy's underground electronic scene in the early 1990s, organising events with the Urban People collective and building a reputation as a selector across the country. That work led to a residency at Pacha, which opened an international touring career and brought him to stages across Europe, Asia and beyond.

Stefano Ugliano grew up in Turin with formal training in classical piano, percussion and drums, developing a grounding in rhythm and composition that drew from both classical composers and the percussive traditions of West African instruments such as the djembe. As electronic music spread across Europe in the 1990s, he discovered it through records and underground events, a process that drew him steadily towards DJing and production.

When the two joined forces, Bicycle Corporation emerged from a shared musical history and a mutual passion for the underground. Electronic Roots continues that exploration, presenting curated selections that reflect their broad range of influences across house, techno and deeper electronic styles.

Guest DJ Sivanesh.

Sivanesh is a DJ based in Singapore whose residency at CÉ LA VI at Marina Bay Sands established him as one of the city's more distinctive voices in house and techno. His sets in the main room drew from off-centre house grooves and driving techno, sharing line-ups with artists including Chaos In The CBD, d'Julz, Dennis Ferrer, Jasper James, Okain, Oliver Dollar and Rampa.

His early influences centred on American producers Mood II Swing, giving his sound a rhythmic and soulful foundation that has always sat above strict genre boundaries. House music remains at the core of his identity, but his approach to selection is guided by quality and musical depth rather than category.

That sensibility led to his selection by Cercle to warm up for their debut Asia event featuring The Martinez Brothers in November 2019. Before the pause in Asian nightlife in 2020 he was a regular presence at venues including The Council, Tanjong Beach Club and Kilo Lounge in Singapore, with a Wonderfruit Festival appearance in Thailand and bookings at W Hotel and Iron Fairies in Kuala Lumpur further extending his regional reach.

In 2020 he stepped away from his CÉ LA VI residency to launch Sivilian Affairs alongside his partner Lilian Hautemulle. The project focuses on intimate events that champion local and regional talent, with particular attention given to underrepresented artists within the electronic music community.

His work continues to be guided by musical integrity and connection, maintaining a balance between groove, depth and unpredictability. Further sessions can be found on his SoundCloud.

Bicycle Corporation's Electronic Roots Episode 05 returns DJ Sivanesh to the selector's role for a set that moves between Deep House and Minimal territory with a consistent sense of curatorial purpose. Surv's Je K'abere opens with a deep and atmospheric quality before Polo and Pan's Dorothy in the In Flagranti Remix on Ekler'O'ShocK introduces a Nu Disco and Indie Dance warmth.

Nicolas Jaar's El Bandido on Wolf + Lamb then arrives as one of the episode's most immediately distinctive selections, the Chilean-American producer's minimal and hypnotic sensibility grounding the set in a deep underground aesthetic. Nu and Jo Ke's Who Loves The Sun on Bar 25 Music and Polo and Pan's Dorothy in its Original Mix form develop the Indie Dance and Nu Disco character further before Chaos In The CBD's Similar Stories on Church shifts the set into jazz-inflected Deep House territory.

Described by Stamp The Wax as showcasing the brothers' "penchant for starry-eyed, jazz-inflected deep house," the New Zealand duo's track is one of the episode's more culturally specific selections, connecting the set to the Peckham underground scene of the mid-2010s. Wadsworth's Detroit To London in the DJ T. Edit on Get Physical and John Jastszebski's Redeye on Signatune Records carry the set through Tech House and Deep House territory before Ray Mono's Payment Deferred, also on Signatune Records, develops the deeper minimal direction.

Diego Krause's Abyss on Constant Sound and SY's Deep Inside Club Rework carry the set into Techno and Deep House territory before Moonlit Vision's Tuia in the Ben Rau Remix on e1even Records provides a more melodic and atmospheric moment. Trackers' Hexagon on Vessel Records and Dennis Ferrer and Jerome Sydenham's The Road To Calabar in the Main Mix on Ibadan Records then offer contrasting energies.

Trackers pushes into Techno and Minimal territory while the Ferrer and Sydenham collaboration delivers one of the episode's most soulful and Afro House-inflected moments, the Ibadan Records imprint connecting both producers to the deep New York and New Jersey underground House tradition. Sandhog's Gyoza on Blue Shadow, Niclas Kannengiesser's Modulation Pt. 2 in the Havantepe Remix on Petra Digital and Magnus International's Sitronsyre in the Prins Thomas Mix on Full Pupp carry the set through Minimal and Balearic territory before Cosmin TRG's Panoramic on Running Back provides a final Minimal and Deep Tech moment.

Borrowed Identity's Into the Blue on Let's Play House closes the episode with a Deep House warmth that suits the set's overall character well. DJ Sivanesh's selection for Episode 05 is a wide-ranging and carefully considered journey through Deep House, Minimal, Nu Disco and Jazz House that reinforces Electronic Roots as a show with genuine curatorial depth and range.
