Petrichor, hosted by Rumesh, has announced the playlists and guest DJs for its debut episode. Broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia, the show joins the station’s growing catalogue of underground-focused programming, reinforcing its role as an English-language electronic music platform, promoter and DJ agency serving Asia and an international audience.

Rooted in the evolving landscape of underground electronic music, Rumesh is a distinctive DJ with a strong affinity for Progressive House. His sound is shaped by emotion, atmosphere and long-form musical storytelling, favouring gradual builds and immersive journeys over quick transitions.

Driven by this vision, Rumesh launched Petrichor as a radio podcast series dedicated to showcasing forward-thinking underground sounds. The show has quickly developed an international reach, welcoming guest DJs and producers from around the world and offering them space to present extended, expressive sets.

With a focus on depth, progression and musical connection, Petrichor reflects Rumesh’s commitment to curating thoughtful electronic music experiences. Guest DJ (first hour) D-Vox.

This week’s guest DJ is D-Vox, the artistic alias of Daniela Rhodes, a DJ, vocalist and lyricist with more than fifteen years of experience across multiple electronic music styles. Known for her versatility behind the decks and her distinctive use of live vocals within DJ sets, D-Vox has built a profile that bridges performance, broadcasting and studio work.

Her journey began with hard dance and trance influences, developing her early skills through bedroom mixing inspired by artists such as Tiësto. Over time, her musical direction expanded into a broad spectrum that now includes House, Techno, Progressive, Drum and Bass and related underground styles. This openness to genre has become a defining feature of her sound, allowing her to adapt fluidly to different dancefloor environments while maintaining a strong personal identity.

Beyond DJing, D-Vox is recognised for her ability as a live vocalist and lyricist. She frequently integrates live vocal performances into her sets, adding an expressive, improvisational layer that sets her apart from traditional DJ formats. This hybrid approach has become a key part of her artistic signature and is regularly showcased in both club and radio environments.

D-Vox is no stranger to broadcasting. She hosts the monthly radio show D-Vox & Guests on Afro*disiac Live Radio, where she curates guest DJs, interviews and new music while blending DJ performance with live vocals. In recent years, she has continued to appear as a guest on international radio platforms, delivering vocal-enhanced DJ mixes for shows such as Conversations and A Drug Called Music on Saturo Sounds Radio, alongside themed and seasonal guest mixes that highlight her adaptability and evolving sound.

Her DJ career has included international residencies and touring, beginning with a three-month contract in the Maldives in 2017, followed by appearances on the Parasol Ibiza Tour and multiple seasons at Ayia Napa House Party between 2018 and 2019. These experiences helped refine her ability to read diverse crowds and perform across a range of musical contexts, from beach settings to late-night club environments.

Alongside performance, Daniela Rhodes has expanded her role within the industry. She writes for Data Transmission and works in A&R across Koda Records sub-labels, including Koda DnB and Koda Hard. This behind-the-scenes involvement reflects her deep understanding of music curation, artist development and underground culture. Her studio work continues to grow through vocal collaborations and songwriting contributions across house, progressive and bass-driven releases.

With a steadily increasing online following, particularly on Facebook and SoundCloud, D-Vox remains highly active and visible within the global underground scene. Her recent output, combining DJ sets, live vocals, radio hosting and industry work, reflects an artist in full momentum, balancing creative expression with professional focus. This guest mix captures that energy, offering a snapshot of an artist who continues to evolve while staying deeply connected to the dancefloor.

The episode opens with a smooth sense of restraint as Sultana lays down warm Deep House grooves, creating a calm but purposeful entry point. This early stretch establishes a subtle emotional tone, allowing space for rhythm and atmosphere to breathe before the energy begins to rise.

As the mix develops, Progressive House takes control through tracks like Pinot Grigio and Generations, where flowing melodies and steady builds shape the core narrative. D-Vox’s live vocal edits begin to surface, adding a human, expressive layer that gently reshapes the original arrangements without overpowering them.

Midway through, the energy tightens as Burned Fruitcake introduces peak-time Techno pressure, pushing the set into a more driving space. The momentum continues with Take The Wheel and Relaunch, where live vocals are used rhythmically, enhancing tension while keeping the progression fluid and controlled.

The closing section returns to melodic depth with Ava and Tyche, allowing the mix to resolve naturally. Progressive House melodies soften, the pacing eases, and the final moments leave a sense of cohesion and emotional balance, highlighting D-Vox’s ability to blend structure, performance and atmosphere into a unified journey.
