Portuguese DJ Joshua releases tracklists for the next show.

DJ Joshua has released the tracklists for the latest editions of his weekly radio shows Floating Beats and Velvety Elements. Both programmes are broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia, the Asian electronic music radio station and DJ agency that supports underground artists and connects audiences across the region and internationally through radio, events and digital platforms.

Joshua, also known under variations of his name, including Joshua Mar, is a Portuguese DJ from Évora whose passion for electronic music developed from an early age. Long before online platforms made music widely accessible, he built a substantial personal collection spanning vinyl, CDs and digital formats, carefully gathering records across a wide range of electronic styles.

As a teenager, he became deeply immersed in electronic music culture, exploring genres such as House, Drum and Bass, Techno and Chill-out. Hours spent searching through record shops were matched by even more time practising at home, learning the craft of DJing and refining his musical knowledge through constant listening and experimentation.

During this period, electronic music received very little exposure on Portuguese radio. Determined to change that, Joshua began approaching local stations and promoting the music he loved. Through persistence, he eventually secured opportunities to host radio slots, using these early broadcasts to introduce listeners to underground electronic sounds and help cultivate a small but growing audience.

Alongside his radio activity, Joshua also became involved in organising events in local bars and clubs, working with other DJs to build a supportive network for electronic music within the region. This grassroots involvement helped sustain the local scene during periods when underground electronic music had limited visibility.

After the birth of his first child, he stepped away from music for a time in order to focus on family life. As his daughter grew older, he felt the urge to reconnect with music and launched a new radio project titled Floating Beats. The show quickly developed into a platform where he could share deeper and more progressive electronic selections with listeners around the world.

As the programme grew in popularity, Joshua introduced a second show, Velvety Elements, dedicated specifically to warmer and more soulful interpretations of house music. While Floating Beats often explores hypnotic techno, melodic house and progressive sounds, Velvety Elements focuses on deeper grooves, soulful rhythms and expressive house music selections.

Today, both shows are broadcast across several online radio stations and platforms internationally, reaching a global audience of electronic music listeners. Through these weekly programmes, Joshua continues to explore a wide spectrum of underground club music, frequently featuring styles such as Deep House, Tech House, Progressive House, Soulful House, Melodic House, Melodic Techno and Techno.

For Joshua, music remains a powerful artistic medium that connects emotion and movement. As he describes it, music is a fusion of elements capable of carrying feeling and energy through sound. Through Floating Beats and Velvety Elements, he continues to share that philosophy with listeners, presenting carefully selected music that reflects both his long-standing passion and his ongoing journey through electronic culture.
