Velvety Elements 322 on Scientific Sound Asia welcomes back DJ Joshua for another edition of his long-running show. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and promoter, publishing music news and connecting audiences across the region and internationally.
Based in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has been part of electronic music culture since the 1990s. He developed a broad musical perspective through vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital formats, with House Music sitting at the centre of his approach.
Although his interests have also moved through Techno, Drum and Bass and Chillout, House has stayed as his main foundation. That connection shapes Velvety Elements, a show focused on warmer, deeper and more soulful shades of the genre.
Joshua stayed active during quieter periods in Portugal’s underground scene through event promotion, collaborations and support for local artists. After stepping back to focus on family, his return through Floating Beats re-established his presence in radio and opened a platform for deeper musical exploration.
Velvety Elements grew from that same creative direction, placing emphasis on flow, texture and understated energy. The show favours smooth grooves and continuity rather than immediate impact, building each episode around depth and atmosphere.
His studio output as Joshua Marian has been particularly active in recent months. Soul Zone and Love My Soul on Bassment Tapes, along with Tengo Rojo and Restless Lips on 659 Records, cover Deep House and Soulful House territory.
How to Play Guitar on JFLM Recordings moves into Melodic House and Techno, adding another dimension to his production work. A forthcoming two-track release on 14th Level Of Paradise, Always on My Mind and I Can Go, You Can See, extends his Deep House direction and is due in July 2026.
The K Joshua alias moves into rawer territory, with Promised Work on Kopoc, Stranger Things on dublucid and As You Are on Liberty Rhythm covering Hypnotic Techno, Dub Techno and Ambient influences. These projects show the wider range of his catalogue, from soulful House material to more experimental underground forms.
In 2024, he launched JFLM Recordings as an independent outlet for his own productions and collaborative work. The label gives his music a dedicated platform while supporting long-term artistic development within underground electronic music.
DJ Joshua presents episode 322 of Velvety Elements on Scientific Sound Asia, with a house-led selection moving through Deep House, House Music, Minimal Tech, Organic House and UK Garage. The episode features music from Steve O'Sullivan, Mo'Cream, D'Julz, Joshua Marian, Nu Birth, Joey Coco and Julius Strieder.
Steve O'Sullivan opens with Bitter Sweat, setting a deeper tone before Mo'Cream’s I Think Its Ok appears in the Oscar P rework. Devv then shifts the mix towards Minimal Tech with My Way, giving the opening section a reduced and groove-led shape.
D'Julz keeps the deeper pressure in place with Weekend Warriors, followed by Ari’s 90's Chicago and Danny Parton’s Poelvoorde. The sequence moves between Deep House and House Music, keeping the rhythm direct while allowing space for classic house references.
Joshua Marian’s You Got Me adds a personal production point to the middle of the episode, returning the set to Deep House. Dream Awaken and O. Chelly then bring Organic House into the programme with Mr Gruuv on Seven Villas.
Nu Birth’s Anytime in the Rhythm Masters remix introduces a UK Garage turn, adding a late-1990s club reference through Locked On. Ferrari follows with Crazy Love, bringing the set back into House Music before Joey Coco’s Apply Yourself adds a Robsoul Records entry.
Julius Strieder closes the episode with Trimbal on 8Bit, returning Velvety Elements 322 to a deeper house sound. The final track keeps the closing section restrained and groove-focused, matching the show’s wider emphasis on underground house selections.
Tune in to his live radio show on Tuesday, July 7th, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. Indochina Time. If you miss it, you can listen to a replay on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. ICT.
