DJ Joshua has released the latest tracklists for his Floating Beats and Velvety Elements shows. Scientific Sound Asia Radio is an English-language electronic music station, promoter and DJ agency serving listeners across Asia and around the world.

DJ Joshua, real name Joshua Mar, is a lifelong music collector from Évora, Portugal. His passion for electronic music defines his artistic identity, having spent decades exploring genres across the spectrum, from House and Techno to Drum and Bass, Chillout and beyond. This broad musical background continues to shape his sound today.

Floating Beats, his long-running weekly programme, became a creative space where Joshua could experiment with progressive, melodic and atmospheric styles of electronic music. Building on the show’s success, he later launched a second hour titled Velvety Elements, a segment dedicated to the softer, deeper and more soulful side of house music.

Joshua began DJing and creating mixes in the early nineties, becoming an enthusiastic vinyl collector and a familiar voice on local radio. He performed at House and Techno events he helped organise with friends, all while Portugal’s rave culture continued to grow. Recognising the rising demand for electronic music, he used radio as a platform to reach wider audiences and share the genres he loved most.

After the birth of his daughter, Joshua stepped away from the scene for several years. When he returned, driven by his enduring passion for electronic music, he created Floating Beats Sessions. The show marked a new chapter in his career, reconnecting him with listeners worldwide and re-establishing his place in the global underground community.

Joshua describes his philosophy simply: “Music is an art form. It is the fusion of elements that can convey emotions and make the body move. This is a place where you hear sounds that float and fall onto your body, enjoy it.”

Each week, Joshua delivers a refined selection of House and Techno sub-genres, frequently featuring Deep House, Tech House, Melodic House, Detroit House, Soulful House, Progressive House, Vocal House, Melodic Techno and Techno. His shows are broadcast internationally across multiple online radio platforms devoted to House and Techno culture.

The first hour opens with warm and melodic Deep House from Devv and Gorge before moving toward the groovier edge of Jorge Caiado. When Ben Sterling appears, the mood pivots into a sharper Tech House direction, adding a punchier energy that carries through Antranig’s peak-time percussion. Sandrinha and Neverdogs continue the theme with rolling basslines, while iO Mulen introduces a more minimal aesthetic.

The selection tightens further as David Museen and Charlie Banks refine the drive with crisp drums and dance-floor momentum. Hector Couto closes the hour in classic fashion, leaning into the rhythmic grit that defined Tech House during this era and bringing the segment to a confident finish.

Velvety Elements shifts the tone into deeper textures, beginning with Frag Maddin and Mancini, whose stripped-back grooves ease the listener into a more intimate soundscape. Johnny Da Cruz and Forteba add warmth with lush Deep House layers while Spiritchaser’s remix of “Ehpp” brings a soulful presence that lifts the pace without breaking the flow.

The hour continues with Coeo, AtLows and Franck Roger guiding the mix into jazz-inflected harmonies and subtle percussive touches. By the time Hideo Kobayashi rounds out the set, the journey feels complete, balancing groove-driven movement with reflective, late-night depth that defines both Floating Beats and Velvety Elements.
