DJ Joshua has published the tracklists for his latest Floating Beats and Velvety Elements shows this Monday. Scientific Sound Asia is the English-language electronic music station, promoter and DJ agency for the Asian region and for listeners internationally.

DJ Joshua, whose real name is Joshua Mar, is a Portuguese music enthusiast known for his dedication to electronic music in all its forms. Based in Évora, Portugal, he has spent decades collecting vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital releases, with House, Drum and Bass, Chillout and Techno forming the core of his artistic identity.

Floating Beats, his long-standing weekly show, allows him to explore progressive, melodic and atmospheric sounds along with a range of techno-driven rhythms. It is now joined by a second hour, Velvety Elements, which focuses on the softest, warmest and most soulful shades of House Music, highlighting deep grooves, elegant harmonies and emotional textures.

Joshua began mixing in the early nineties and became an avid vinyl collector. He soon entered local radio, presenting almost every genre of electronic music and performing at events he organised with close friends. As Portugal’s rave scene grew, he recognised that radio could inspire younger listeners and help spread underground culture across the country.

After taking a break to focus on fatherhood, he returned with renewed purpose and launched Floating Beats Sessions. The show expanded quickly, attracting listeners from around the world and establishing Joshua as a trusted curator of underground music.

His artistic work has continued to evolve in recent years through several aliases. As Joshua Marian, he released the Nobody Waiting For Me EP on Back to the Beat, which features the organ-driven title track and the nostalgic I Love You.

His projects as K Joshua and Joshua Fernand explore deeper and more percussive directions, while his alias Joshua Onairam focuses on melodic and cinematic electronic music with strong storytelling elements. Under this name, he recently released Shiny Night, a track that showcases his atmospheric and progressive approach. His single Light of Faith, as K Joshua demonstrates his shift toward introspective deep house with melodic phrasing and emotional clarity.

In 2024, he founded JFLM Recordings, a label created to release his own productions and to support underground artists who share his passion for authenticity, texture and depth. The label continues to expand and now forms a central part of his musical identity.

Joshua describes his shows as follows. “Music is an art form. It is the fusion of elements that can convey emotions and make the body move. This is a place where you hear sounds that can float and fall onto your body, enjoy it.”

Each week he presents an updated selection of House and Techno that often includes Deep House, Tech House, Melodic House, Detroit House, Soulful House, Progressive House, Vocal House, Melodic Techno and Techno. His podcasts have been broadcast on House and Techno stations internationally, and his newly released productions continue to strengthen his presence within the global underground music community.

This combined two hour show opens with Rui Da Silva and Batida setting a rhythmic tech-house tone for Floating Beats 439, which smoothly transitions into Jorge Caiado’s warm deep house palette. Mancini’s Cab Drivers remix introduces a more minimal feel, pushing the first hour into a tighter, groove-driven space that matches DJ Joshua’s early Floating Beats aesthetic.

As the pace develops, Bushwacka!’s Healer in the Sasha remix brings lush melodic warmth, while Collective Machine and Devv add modern progressive touches that lift the hour into a more atmospheric zone. Gorge and La Fleur round out the melodic narrative, and Marko Nastic’s contribution adds sharper textures before Ray Okpara brings things back to a deep rolling finish, closing the Floating Beats side.

Velvety Elements 012 then shifts the focus toward deeper and more soulful house. Vick Lavender’s Meteorites opens the second hour with a rich, musical feel, and Jay Newman and Chris Stussy continue with smooth, contemporary deep house grooves. Jorge Caiado returns with an intimate tone, while Audiojack’s rework injects a confident tech-house push that keeps the rhythm moving without losing the late-night softness expected from Velvety Elements.

The episode closes with a sequence of warm deep house cuts from DJ Sneak, Hideo Kobayashi and Franck Roger alongside Paul B, all emphasising groove, chord work and subtle detail. Together, Floating Beats 439 and Velvety Elements 012 present DJ Joshua in full flow, linking melodic and minimal structures with classic deep house textures in one continuous broadcast.
