Joshua announces track-list for new shows 13th of July 2020.

DJ Joshua has released the tracklists for his latest editions of Floating Beats and Velvety Elements. Scientific Sound Asia is an online English language electronic music station, promoter and DJ agency for the Asian region and for listeners around the world.

DJ Joshua, real name Joshua Mar, is a Portuguese DJ, producer and lifelong collector of electronic music. Based in Évora, he has spent decades building an extensive archive of vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital releases. His passion for electronic music spans House, Drum and Bass, Chillout and Techno, and this broad foundation continues to shape his style today.

Floating Beats, his long-running weekly show, gives him space to explore progressive, melodic and atmospheric sounds across the spectrum of House and Techno. It is now accompanied by a second hour titled Velvety Elements, a programme focused on the softer and more soulful sides of House Music, highlighting warm harmonies, deep grooves and emotive textures.

Joshua began his journey in the early nineties, mixing at home and collecting records before moving into local radio. He played across almost every corner of the electronic spectrum and performed at House and Techno events he organised with friends. As Portugal’s rave scene grew, he recognised the importance of radio as a way to introduce new sounds and inspire younger listeners.

After stepping away from the scene to focus on fatherhood, he later returned with renewed purpose. Floating Beats was created as an outlet for his enduring passion and quickly attracted an international following. This revival marked the beginning of his most productive artistic period, which now includes multiple aliases, new releases and the launch of his label JFLM Recordings.

He describes his shows with a simple philosophy: "Music is an art form. It is the fusion of elements that can convey emotions and make the body move. This is a place where you hear sounds that can float and fall onto your body. Enjoy it."

Each week, Joshua showcases a fresh and carefully selected blend of Deep House, Tech House, Melodic House, Detroit House, Soulful House, Progressive House, Vocal House, Melodic Techno and Techno. His broadcasts continue to reach a global audience through a variety of house and techno radio platforms internationally.

The first hour opens with a distinct melodic lift as Jonas Saalbach and Valdovinos set a glowing atmosphere shaped by smooth synth layers and warm bass lines. Lionel Weets and Ian O’Donovan keep the tone forward-moving with uplifting progressions, carrying that signature melodic house feel that defines many early Floating Beats episodes.

As the mix develops, Marst and Petit Beurre bring in a more progressive edge, with rolling percussion and atmospheric builds giving the set an increased sense of motion. Jules Wells adds a brighter, rhythmic drive before Laurent Garnier’s timeless Man With The Red Face emerges as the hour’s centrepiece, providing a burst of classic energy that bridges eras and styles. Madben closes the hour with sharper techno elements, tightening the flow before handing off to the deeper second half.

Velvety Elements 011 shifts immediately into a deep house mood with Intr0beatz delivering warm chords and laid-back groove. Monika Ross and Jesse Maas steer the feel toward minimal influences, adding subtle percussion details that keep the rhythm crisp without losing smoothness. Sweetpower and Raw Instinct contribute soulful touches, softening the energy while maintaining dance-floor depth.

The hour continues with a refined sense of groove as Fizzikx and Inland Knights highlight classic deep house character, pairing rolling bass lines with light melodic flourishes. The closing selections from PEZNT, Divine Essence, and Matthias Tanzmann with Mathias Kaden bring a final uplift, ending the set on a confident, club-ready note. Together, both hours show DJ Joshua’s contrast between melodic focus and warm deep house flow.
