Graham Gold has unveiled the latest playlist for his long-running weekly radio show Esta La Musica, continuing its broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia. As an English-language electronic music station, promoter and DJ agency, Scientific Sound Asia remains a key platform connecting underground and established electronic artists with audiences across Asia and worldwide.
The show takes its name from a tattoo etched onto Graham’s right arm in Los Angeles during the late 1990s, a phrase that has since become synonymous with his musical identity. Following his departure from London’s Kiss 100 and his relocation to Southeast Asia, Graham adopted Esta La Musica as the title for his new chapter, reshaping it into a forward-facing techno and house-focused radio series that reflects both his heritage and his ongoing evolution as an artist.
Graham’s foundations as a DJ were built in London, where he held a remarkable decade-long residency at Gulliver’s Club in Mayfair, performing six nights a week. This period cemented his reputation as a trusted tastemaker and technically refined selector.
His journey began even earlier, at just seventeen, when his passion for Afrocentric music led to the creation of The Funky Road Show, a mobile disco that quickly became one of the most in-demand operations in London’s West End during the 1970s. By the age of eighteen, Graham was playing Black music five nights a week across the capital.
This momentum carried into the 1980s through residencies on London’s pirate radio stations, where his musical reach expanded across reggae, soul, disco and jazz-funk. His growing profile led to a weekly Saturday night soul show on Capital FM with the Radio London Soul Night Out team, earning him the Broadcaster of the Year award in 1985.
Graham was part of Kiss FM from its earliest days, and his weekly shows played a major role in shaping the station’s global reputation. His influence extended worldwide, earning him eight consecutive years in DJ Magazine’s Top 100 and later recognition in Dash’s Most Popular DJs of All Time list.
Today, Graham remains as active as ever, performing regularly across Asia and internationally while continuing to curate Esta La Musica as a space for contemporary house, techno and progressive sounds. The show stands as both a reflection of his legacy and a living platform for modern club culture, driven by a DJ whose passion for music remains undiminished.
The episode opens with warm, organic tones as Amatista introduces Afro House rhythms before easing into the melodic pull of All Over You. These early selections establish a fluid atmosphere where groove and emotion work together, setting a relaxed but purposeful pace.
Minimal and deep tech textures come into focus through El Abrazo De La Serpiente and Mendoza, where subtle percussion and stripped-back arrangements allow tension to build naturally. The mix remains understated, favouring control and flow over immediate impact.
Momentum increases as melodic house and techno take centre stage. Tracks like Oblivion, The Birth and Alone deepen the emotional narrative, while progressive selections such as Moon In The Window, Samsara and Hyperdrive gradually lift the energy without losing finesse.
The journey concludes on a tougher note with Move 2 The Beat, delivering peak-time drive and rhythmic punch. It provides a decisive finish to a set that balances melody, progression and restraint, reflecting Graham Gold’s seasoned approach to underground house and techno programming.
