DJ Joshua has released the playlists for his weekly Floating Beats and Velvety Elements shows. Scientific Sound Asia, an Asian electronic music station, promoter, and DJ agency with a global following broadcasts these captivating shows.
Born and raised in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua gained a reputation as an electronic music collector, amassing an impressive array of digital formats, vinyl, compact discs, and tapes. His passion for music blossomed during his formative years, collecting genres such as Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout.
He spent countless hours refining his DJ skills and organising his vast music library. In the early 1990s, despite rave music facing resistance and being largely absent from Portuguese airwaves, Joshua's perseverance led him to secure residencies on local radio stations, where he introduced rave culture to the masses.
Soon after, he began performing at clubs and bars, gaining a strong reputation both locally and beyond. Following the birth of his first child, Joshua took a break from performing.
As his daughter grew older, Joshua felt compelled to return to his musical roots, launching the Floating Beats podcast and radio series. Over the years, the show has attracted a loyal following, enabling him to continue his original vision through various notable online platforms.
Building on this momentum, Joshua later introduced Velvety Elements, a show dedicated to exploring the deeper, more soulful side of House music. His podcasts have been broadcast on renowned House and Techno radio stations internationally, including Scientific Sound Asia.
For Joshua, music is an art form that fuses elements to evoke emotion and movement. His weekly shows offer a rich blend of House and Techno sub-genres, such as Deep House, Tech House, Melodic House, Detroit Techno, and Soulful House.
