DJ Joshua has just dropped fresh playlists for his celebrated shows, 'Floating Beats' and 'Velvety Elements.' As a leading figure in the Asian electronic music scene and a top DJ agency, Scientific Sound Asia connects a global audience with the dynamic world of electronic music, including techno, house music, and techno events.

Hailing from Evora, Portugal, DJ Joshua is renowned for his vast collection of electronic music. His dedication is clear in his exploration of various genres across multiple formats, including digital, vinyl, CD, and tape. His collection features everything from deep house music to dub techno, reflecting his passion for diverse electronic beats.

In his teenage years, Joshua delved into multiple genres, including Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout. He spent significant time refining his DJ skills and building a comprehensive library of electronic music, including the rich sounds of Detroit techno.

During the early nineties, when rave culture and techno faced substantial resistance and were underrepresented on Portuguese radio, Joshua’s determination led him to secure residencies at local stations. He played a pivotal role in bringing Detroit techno and other techno styles to a broader audience.

Joshua also began organising techno events in clubs and bars, earning a strong reputation in his local scene. After becoming a father, he took a break from live performances and radio hosting to focus on his family.

As his daughter grew up, Joshua felt a renewed inspiration to reconnect with his musical roots, leading to the creation of the 'Floating Beats' podcast and radio series. This show, featuring a mix of techno and house music, has gained a significant following across major online platforms and our techno radio station throughout Asia.

Expanding his reach, Joshua also launched 'Velvety Elements,' focusing on the deeper and more soulful aspects of House Music. Both shows have been broadcast internationally over the past two years, including on Scientific Sound Asia’s station.

Joshua sums up his philosophy with: "Music is an art form. It’s a blend of elements that convey emotions and make the body move. It’s about sounds that can float and resonate with you."

Each week, Joshua dives into a variety of electronic music sub-genres, including Detroit techno, dark techno, progressive house, deep house music, and techno house, showcasing his expertise as a Portuguese DJ.

Listen to the shows live on Monday 19th of September 2022 from 6 PM to 8 PM Indochina Time (ICT) and re-airing on Friday from 6 AM to 8 AM (ICT).
