Scientific Sound Asia has released the latest playlists for DJ Joshua’s radio shows, Floating Beats and Velvety Elements. Recognised as a leading electronic music station, promoter, and DJ agency, Scientific Sound Asia is influential in shaping the electronic music scene across Asia. By organising events in Ho Chi Minh City and other key venues, the station draws a broad international audience.
Originally from Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has held a lifelong passion for electronic music. His vast music library, including digital files, vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes, showcases his enduring commitment to the genre.
Throughout his career, DJ Joshua has refined his DJ skills across styles such as Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout. Despite the obstacles that rave culture encountered in 1990s Portugal, Joshua remained dedicated to electronic music.
In the face of social constraints and criticism, he devised innovative methods to create and share his work, often arranging underground gatherings with his team. These events, held in various clubs and bars, became focal points for House and Techno music lovers, drawing an audience that grew well beyond his immediate community.
After becoming a father, DJ Joshua reduced his involvement in event management and radio to prioritise his family. However, as his daughter grew older, his enthusiasm for music was reignited, leading him to establish the Floating Beats podcast and radio show. This weekly broadcast features an eclectic mix of electronic music, with DJ Joshua’s sets celebrated for their smooth transitions, curated track selections, and attention to the emotional depth of each genre.
For DJ Joshua, music offers a sense of spiritual refuge, inviting audiences into a sensory journey that transcends traditional artistic boundaries. In January 2024, he expanded his creative pursuits with the launch of JFLM Recordings, a label dedicated to presenting his music and supporting his journey in music production.
Floating Beats 661Â and Velvety Elements 233Â bring together a carefully crafted blend of Deep House, Tech House, and Techno. In Floating Beats 661, DJ Joshua sets the stage with deep, pulsating rhythms from artists like Luke Hess, Marco Bailey, and Yotam Avni, creating a richly atmospheric vibe.
The second hour, Velvety Elements 233, dives into grooves with Frederick Alonso, Traumer, and Andrew Azara, blending the soul of Deep House with the pulse of Tech House. This episode is an immersive journey, perfect for those looking to explore layered textures and upbeat rhythms in electronic music.
Renowned for the emotional depth of his music and his unwavering backing of the electronic music scene, DJ Joshua garners consistent praise for his musical work.
