DJ Joshua publishes his track list for Floating Beats 746.

Floating Beats 746 on Scientific Sound Asia welcomes back DJ Joshua for another edition of his long-running show. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and promoter, publishing music news and connecting audiences across the region and internationally.

Born in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has been part of electronic music culture since the mid-1990s, building his knowledge across vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital formats. His background spans house, techno, drum and bass and chillout, and even during quieter periods for Portugal's underground scene he stayed active through event organisation and community support.

After a period away from DJing to focus on family, he returned through Floating Beats, which has developed into a recognised outlet for deeper and more progressive electronic music. The show is built around atmosphere, controlled progression and a sense of arc that reflects his years of experience behind the decks.

Alongside the show, Joshua produces under several aliases, each covering different ground within electronic music. As Joshua Fernand he works in modern techno, with tracks such as Blue River on MixCult Digital and Breaking Rocks and Tearing Metal on his own JFLM Recordings delivering driving rhythms and peak-time energy. Closed Door and Open Door on Radickal Records take a darker, more hypnotic direction through tension and repetition.

His Joshua Marian alias sits at the deeper end, with releases including Just Love, Express Your Voice and Go Slow appearing on labels such as Yesenia, Jazz In Da House, Agua Salada Records and Wanda. That project draws on warm melodies, soulful textures and groove-led rhythmic flow rather than the harder edges of his techno work.

The K Joshua alias moves into rawer and more experimental territory, with Promised Work on Kopoc, Stranger Things on dublucid and Slow Laziness on Ghetto Rhythms Records spanning raw and hypnotic techno, dub techno and ambient influences. Killer's Plan on Rice Bowl Recordings under the Joshua Fernand name bridges the gap, combining layered melodies with melodic house and techno structures.

JFLM Recordings, launched in 2024, serves as an independent platform for his own output and collaborative projects, dedicated to underground electronic music and creative freedom. This week he brings that breadth of experience to Floating Beats 746.

Floating Beats 746 opens with Feral's Sinner on Non Series, the raw hypnotic qualities of that track establishing the set's underground intentions from the outset. Carara's Tool 001 on Casanova Bar Records follows before DJ Joshua steps in with his own material under his Joshua Fernand alias, Divine released on his JFLM Recordings imprint.

DJ Dextro's Disclosure Of Who We Are on SIDE B and DJ Sodeyama's Tailtiu on Observant push deeper into Deep Techno and Hypnotic Techno territory, the Japanese producer's characteristically dark and meditative approach giving the mid-section a distinctly warehouse quality. 543FF's Precarious on TH Tar Hallow sustains that hypnotic direction before dc11's Designer Concrete Boots on Falling Ethics shifts the tone with a harder, more Peak Time Techno driving energy.

DJ Joshua returns with a second JFLM Recordings selection, Celestial under the Joshua Fernand alias, before A Thousand Details' Reformulation on TH Tar Hallow continues the deeper hypnotic thread. Tony Miler's Kalimba on Subhills provides one of the more distinctive moments of the set, its percussive character sitting apart from the harder selections either side of it.

Temudo's U Used to Laugh at My Jokes on Primal Instinct follows, the Portuguese producer's presence here entirely in keeping with the underground Techno character of DJ Joshua's programming. Drop-e and RNGD's La Furia del Viento in the Bartig Move Remix on Signal Rec and A.Paul's Hipnotika in a fresh 2026 Remix on ONHCET carry the set towards its close, the latter a long-standing figure in the harder end of European Techno whose work on labels like Kombination Research has helped define the raw underground sound that runs through this episode.

Oscar Mulero's Untold on Loopaina closes the set, the Madrid-based producer rounding off an episode that prioritised depth, hypnotic tension and warehouse atmosphere throughout. Floating Beats 746 is a focused and uncompromising piece of programming, DJ Joshua drawing on a tight network of underground Techno labels to build a live radio show that holds its character from first track to last.
