DJ Joshua returns with episode 743 of Floating Beats on Scientific Sound Asia. The platform operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and promoter, while also publishing music news and connecting audiences across the region and internationally.
Born in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has remained deeply connected to electronic music culture since the mid-1990s. His long-standing relationship with vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital formats reflects decades of dedication to underground sound and DJ culture, shaping an approach grounded in both tradition and continuous musical evolution.
Throughout his career, Joshua has explored house, techno, drum and bass and chillout. Even during quieter periods for Portugal’s rave scene, he remained active at the grassroots level through event organisation and support for local underground communities, helping maintain connections within the scene while reinforcing his long-term involvement in electronic music culture.
After stepping away from music to focus on family life, he returned with renewed focus through his techno radio show, Floating Beats. The series reestablished his international presence and developed into a platform centred on deeper and more progressive electronic sounds, allowing him to refine a more narrative-driven and carefully structured approach to DJing.
His studio output spans several aliases, including K Joshua, Joshua Fernand, Joshua Marian and Joshua Onairam, each representing a distinct creative direction. Across these projects, he moves between deep house, hypnotic techno, melodic club music and cinematic electronic compositions while maintaining a strong emphasis on atmosphere, flow and musical storytelling.
Recent releases under the Joshua Fernand alias continue highlighting a stronger focus on techno-oriented productions. Tracks such as Blue River on MixCult Digital alongside Breaking Rocks and Tearing Metal on JFLM Recordings lean into Peak Time / Driving techno through forceful percussion, rolling momentum and controlled progression. In contrast, Closed Door and Open Door on Radickal Records explore deeper hypnotic territory shaped by repetition, tension and atmospheric layering.
Alongside these heavier productions, Killer’s Plan on Rice Bowl Recordings reflects a more melodic direction through restrained arrangements and carefully balanced Melodic House & Techno influences. This contrast across releases demonstrates Joshua’s ability to move between energetic club material and more introspective electronic compositions while preserving a consistent sonic identity.
In 2024, Joshua launched JFLM Recordings as a platform for his own productions while also supporting underground artists and collaborative projects. The label continues evolving as an independent outlet focused on creative freedom, underground values and long-term artistic development within electronic music culture.
Together, Floating Beats and JFLM Recordings reflect a sustained commitment to new underground electronic music and independent artistic progression. Episode 743 continues this path through a carefully structured journey built around techno, melodic movement and immersive club-focused storytelling, reinforcing DJ Joshua’s evolving identity as both a selector and producer within the contemporary underground scene.
Shlomi Aber and Kashpitzky open the session with Retrospective (Intro Version), immediately establishing a deep hypnotic Techno atmosphere built around rolling percussion and stripped-back textures. Carara follows with Tool 001, introducing a sharper Peak Time edge before Local Analyst and A.Paul returns the mix toward darker Raw and Deep Techno territory through Right Handed Scissors and Subterfuge.
Joel Mull’s Pressure Blome continues the hypnotic progression with driving low-end rhythms and subtle atmospheric layers. Louis The 4th briefly increases the intensity through the Peak Time Techno groove of Archive 5, while Oculus and Iglo maintain the underground flow with Ghanima and Kauriraris, both rooted firmly in deep warehouse-style Techno.
The middle section becomes heavier and more immersive through Sterac Scorp’s Crashed At The End and Jerical’s Unrest. Luciano Esse restores the deeper hypnotic direction through Certo, balancing tight percussion with rolling groove structures that keep the session locked into a late-night underground atmosphere.
S-File’s Sirens and Uncertain’s Phrase continue the relentless Raw and Hypnotic Techno flow with stripped-back rhythmic pressure and minimal melodic elements. Raytek closes the episode with Loisaida, ending the session with another deep warehouse-driven Techno cut that reinforces the dark and hypnotic identity running throughout Floating Beats 743.
Listen to his live radio show on Monday, May 18th, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). If you miss the live broadcast, you can catch the replay on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. (ICT).
