DJ Joshua returns with episode 741 of Floating Beats on Scientific Sound Asia. The platform operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and promoter, while also publishing music news and connecting audiences across the region and internationally.

Born in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has been immersed in electronic music culture since the mid-1990s. His long-standing connection to vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital formats reflects decades of dedication to underground sound and DJ culture, shaping a perspective grounded in both tradition and evolution.

Throughout his career, he has explored house, techno, drum and bass and chillout. Even during quieter periods for Portugal’s rave scene, he remained active at a grassroots level, organising events and supporting the underground community. This continued involvement helped sustain local networks while reinforcing his role within the scene.

After stepping away from music to focus on family life, he returned with renewed direction through his Techno radio show, Floating Beats. The series reestablished his international presence and developed into a platform for deeper and progressive electronic sounds, allowing him to refine a more narrative-driven and structured approach to DJing.

His studio work spans multiple aliases, including K Joshua, Joshua Fernand, Joshua Marian and Joshua Onairam, each representing a different creative direction. Across these identities, he explores styles ranging from deep house and techno to more melodic and cinematic compositions, maintaining a consistent emphasis on flow and musical storytelling.

Recent releases under the Joshua Fernand alias highlight a stronger focus on techno. Tracks such as Blue River on MixCult Digital and Breaking Rocks and Tearing Metal on JFLM Recordings lean into Peak Time / Driving energy, combining forceful rhythms with structured progression. In contrast, Closed Door and Open Door on Radickal Records explore a deeper, hypnotic techno direction, built around tension, repetition and subtle atmospheric shifts.

Alongside these, Killer’s Plan on Rice Bowl Recordings reflects his melodic side, blending Melodic House & Techno elements with a more controlled and expressive arrangement. This balance across releases reinforces his ability to move between driving club material and more introspective compositions without losing coherence in his sound.

In 2024, he founded JFLM Recordings as a platform for his own productions while supporting underground artists. The label continues to grow as an outlet for both solo work and collaborations, reflecting a commitment to creative independence and long-term development within the electronic music scene.

Together, Floating Beats and JFLM Recordings represent a sustained dedication to underground electronic culture. Episode 741 continues this trajectory, drawing from his recent studio output and broader influences to deliver a focused journey shaped by techno, melodic structure and progressive flow, grounded in experience and a clearly defined artistic direction.

The set opens with DJ Dextro’s Thx, immediately establishing a Raw, Deep and Hypnotic Techno tone. Altinbas and Assuc follow with Stygious Night and Hot Seven O’Clock, reinforcing a deep, rolling groove that defines the early part of the session.

Momentum builds through Benjamin Mull and The Advent’s Source 004 in the Cari Lekebusch remix, alongside Uncertain’s Shift, where layered rhythms and subtle textures maintain a consistent hypnotic flow. Greg Gow and Perroxx continue this direction, keeping the structure tight and immersive.

The middle section intensifies with Rene Wise’s Flow and Procombo’s Static Force, where repetition and low-end pressure drive the mix forward. Clemens Neufeld and Uncertain add further depth with Death Thrills and Load, maintaining a steady and evolving rhythm.

Energy remains focused through S-File’s Heater and Obscure Shape’s Kaidan, both reinforcing the hypnotic aesthetic. The progression remains controlled, with subtle variations in texture rather than dramatic shifts in style.

A brief lift in intensity arrives with Invexis’ Night Hunters, introducing a Peak Time Techno edge before the set returns to deeper territory. This contrast adds a moment of heightened energy without disrupting the overall flow.

The closing stretch is guided by Kr!z’s Ipso Facto, rounding off a cohesive and immersive session. Across the full set, DJ Joshua delivers a focused exploration of Raw, Deep and Hypnotic Techno, maintaining a consistent groove with minimal deviation from its core sound.

Listen to his live radio show on Monday, May 4th, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). If you miss the live broadcast, you can hear the replay on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. (ICT).
