Floating Beats returns with episode 731, presented by DJ Joshua. Broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia, the series continues to champion underground electronic music, DJ culture and live events across Asia, connecting globally rooted sounds with an international audience through carefully curated programming.

Born in Évora, Portugal, Joshua has been immersed in electronic music culture since the mid-1990s. His long-standing relationship with vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital formats reflects decades of dedication to underground sound and club culture. From early crate digging to countless hours behind the decks, his musical outlook has consistently been shaped by curiosity, depth and a broad appreciation of electronic music.

Across his career, he has explored House, Techno, Drum and Bass and Chillout, maintaining activity even during quieter periods for Portugal’s rave movement. Working at the grassroots level alongside fellow DJs and producers, he helped sustain the underground scene and preserve creative momentum when wider visibility was limited.

After stepping away from music to focus on family life, Joshua returned with renewed clarity through Floating Beats, a radio and podcast project that quickly re-established his international presence. Over time, the show developed into a respected platform for melodic, progressive and deeper electronic sounds, reflecting his ongoing growth as a selector and attracting a loyal global audience.

Joshua’s studio work extends across multiple aliases, each representing a distinct creative direction. As K-Joshua, the Hopeful Mind EP explored emotive Deep House. Under the Joshua Fernand name, the Logic Move EP moved into hypnotic, raw Techno. The Joshua Marian project delivered groove-driven soulful House with Chance With Soul, while Joshua Onairam focuses on cinematic and melodic textures, as heard on Melodic Doubts.

Recent releases demonstrate a refined continuation of this path. Shiny Night, released in 2025 under the Joshua Onairam alias, blends progressive melody with emotional depth and atmosphere, reinforcing the coherent evolution that links his Deep House and Techno output.

In 2024, Joshua founded JFLM Recordings, a label created to release his own productions while collaborating with underground artists who share a commitment to authenticity and musical depth. Together, Floating Beats and JFLM Recordings represent a sustained dedication to meaningful electronic music, offering listeners a carefully shaped journey rooted firmly in underground culture.

The session opens with a restrained groove as Metime establishes a minimal foundation before Strictly for Love brings warm, deep house movement. His track Similar Opening shifts the tone toward hypnotic techno, tightening the rhythm and preparing the mix for deeper immersion.

The centre of the first half settles into raw structure through Cougar and Rummage, where melodic textures contrast with stripped percussion. Eclipse intensifies the hypnotic pull, while That Mood (Detroit Vision) softens the edge with classic deep house warmth.

Momentum increases with Smash before Samhain introduces peak time drive. The rhythm becomes more direct, emphasising clarity and propulsion without breaking the steady progression.

The final stretch moves between focused intensity and controlled energy as Prism reinforces hypnotic depth and Asstitude closes the set with firm peak-time pressure. The episode maintains a balance between deep atmosphere and forward motion throughout.

Catch his live radio show on Monday, February 23rd, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). Missed it? No problem, tune in to the replay on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. (ICT).
