The latest edition of Floating Beats, episode 715, is presented by Portuguese DJ and producer Joshua. Broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia, a platform dedicated to underground electronic music, DJ culture, and live events across Asia, the show continues to champion innovative artists and global sounds.
Originally from Évora, Portugal, Joshua has been active in electronic music since the mid-1990s. His extensive archive of vinyl, cassettes, CDs, and digital recordings reflects decades of passion for sound and a lifelong connection to underground culture.
Throughout his career, Joshua has explored an array of genres including house, techno, drum and bass, and chillout. Even during quieter periods for Portugal’s rave movement, he remained committed to the scene by organising events and collaborating with fellow DJs and producers to sustain the local underground community.
After stepping back to focus on family, Joshua made a strong return with Floating Beats, a podcast and radio show that reintroduced him to the global DJ circuit. Since then, the series has evolved into a respected showcase for melodic, progressive, and atmospheric electronic music, earning an international following.
In recent years, Joshua has diversified his creative output through several aliases, each highlighting a different facet of his musical personality. As K-Joshua, his Hopeful Mind EP (2024) delved into deep, emotive house; under Joshua Fernand, Logic Move EP explored raw, hypnotic techno; as Joshua Marian, Chance With Soul (2025) offered soulful and groove-infused house; and under Joshua Onairam, he continues to experiment with melodic and cinematic compositions such as Melodic Doubts.
To further develop his artistic vision, Joshua founded JFLM Recordings in 2024, a label designed to release his own productions and collaborate with innovative underground artists. Alongside Floating Beats, the imprint represents Joshua’s dedication to authenticity and evolution, connecting listeners to the depth and emotion of electronic music worldwide.
Floating Beats 715 opens with a hypnotic pulse as Assuc’s TV Program and Exos’ Everyday lock into deep mechanical rhythm. Altinbas’ Stygious Night and Cv1’s Warehouse Tool reinforce that underground warehouse essence with stripped percussion and dark momentum, shaping the set’s raw foundation.
The mix continues its ascent with Emmanuel’s New Media (OFF/GRID Remix) and Louis The 4th’s Drive System, both sculpted around metallic grooves and driving basslines. SLV’s Pressure adds tension, while Stephen Brown’s Compare keeps the atmosphere sharp and urgent, a seamless bridge between hypnotic depth and floor-focused intent.
Conrad Van Orton’s City Roaming and Hertz’s Paris to Lisbon push the flow into heavier territory, their fluid synths and layered drums radiating that classic European minimal energy. System Efe’s House on Fire and Sleeparchive’s Project 2501 elevate the intensity, striking the perfect balance between deep rhythmic hypnosis and peak-time release.
The closing stretch lands on familiar ground with Markantonio’s Radici and DJ Joshua’s own Gun Shot, a standout promo that fuses the artist’s signature deep groove with raw drive and industrial power. Floating Beats 715 reaffirms DJ Joshua’s mastery of the Techno spectrum — where the hypnotic meets the kinetic in perfect balance.
Be sure to tune in to his live radio show on Monday, November 3rd, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). If you can't make it, a replay will be broadcast on Friday between 6 and 8 a.m. (ICT).
