The latest edition of Floating Beats, episode 714, is presented by Portuguese DJ and producer Joshua. Broadcast via Scientific Sound Asia, a platform dedicated to underground electronic music, DJ culture, and live events across Asia, the show continues to champion innovative artists and global sounds.

Originally from Évora, Portugal, Joshua has been deeply involved in electronic music since the mid-1990s. His vast collection of vinyl, cassettes, CDs, and digital recordings reflects decades of dedication to sound and a lifelong connection to underground culture.

Over the years, Joshua has explored a wide range of genres, from house and techno to drum and bass and chillout. Even when Portugal’s rave scene slowed in the late 1990s, he remained a driving force behind local events, organising parties and collaborating with other DJs and producers to keep the underground community active.

After taking time away to focus on family, Joshua returned to music with a renewed sense of purpose, launching Floating Beats, a podcast and radio show that marked his re-entry into DJing and broadcasting. Since its debut, the series has become a respected platform for immersive, melodic, and progressive electronic music, gaining an international audience.

In recent years, Joshua has expanded his artistic expression through several aliases, each exploring a unique direction in sound. As K-Joshua, his Hopeful Mind EP (2024) delved into deep, atmospheric house, while Joshua Fernand’s Logic Move EP focused on hypnotic, driving techno. Under Joshua Marian, Chance With Soul (2025) showcased soulful, groove-led house, and as Joshua Onairam, he continues to experiment with melodic and cinematic production through releases like Melodic Doubts.

To further support his artistic journey, Joshua launched JFLM Recordings in 2024, a label created to release his own productions and those of like-minded underground artists. Together with Floating Beats, the imprint embodies his vision of authenticity, depth, and evolution, offering listeners a genuine connection to the global electronic underground.

DJ Joshua opens Floating Beats 714 with S.A.M.’s Crush, setting a warm and textured deep house tone. Donk’s Warmth and Sublee’s Metime move the mix into darker, more intricate layers of peak-time techno and minimal groove, while Mirko Loko’s Mind Your Step provides a classic house uplift before returning to driving momentum with Tal Fussman’s Eyes.

The midsection of the mix explores raw and hypnotic energies. Z.I.P.P.O’s Eleven and Moy Santana’s Ariake carve deep underground pathways, followed by Lucid Calm from Joshua Onairam, where melodic progression meets techno precision. Gentian’s Nothing Else Of Value and Format’s The Session Continues push the mix deeper, combining evolving soundscapes with mechanical rhythm.

Momentum builds through Justin Berkovi’s Echoes of Subversion and Salbany’s Crossroads, both balancing tension and release through layered percussion and resonant low-end flow. Ian O'Donovan’s Heat Seeker closes the journey in a powerful crescendo of driving techno energy and emotional resonance.

Floating Beats 714 captures DJ Joshua’s signature sound, deeply immersive, rhythmically detailed, and melodically charged. From refined beginnings to hypnotic intensity, it reflects his ongoing mastery of techno in its purest and most expressive form.
