Detroit producer Chuck Daniels is relaunching Sampled Detroit with ‘The Remixes’, a six-track collection returning key reworks from his catalogue to circulation. Released on 7th August 2026, the project centres on a newly remastered version of his remix of Andy Toth and Billy Love’s ‘Thrillseekers’ while reconnecting the label’s past with its next phase.

The collection also revisits material by Jr Jr, Jake Childs and Laura Frey, Lupe, Evan Rhodes featuring Clara Grun, and Johnny Fiasco. Across the selection, Daniels approaches remixing as reconstruction rather than surface treatment, balancing soulful musical detail with drums and basslines designed to carry their weight in a club.

‘Thrillseekers’ remains the natural focal point. Originally issued through Seth Troxler’s Play It Say It imprint, Daniels’ version found support from DJs including Eats Everything and Skream and became closely associated with Ibiza dance floors. Its return in remastered form gives the relaunch a useful bridge between an established piece of his discography and the contemporary DJ market.

“Bringing people together has always been at the heart of everything I do, whether that’s through music or my other passion, food,” Daniels says. “Relaunching Sampled Detroit feels like the right time to revisit some of these remixes, give them the treatment they deserve and make them available again for a new generation of DJs and fans.”

Sampled Detroit first emerged in 2002, when Daniels began using the imprint as an outlet for underground house and techno rooted in the city’s culture. Its catalogue has since featured artists including Amp Fiddler, Andrés, Derrick Carter, Jason Hodges, Jesse Rose and Oliver Dollar. A 2018 sixteenth-anniversary series showed the label’s breadth particularly clearly, moving between Detroit techno pressure and house music’s rhythmic and soulful traditions.

Daniels’ own musical formation helps explain that range. Early listening moved through 1970s and 1980s records, soul, jazz and rhythm and blues before Detroit techno, Chicago house and New York house became central reference points. Record shops including Record Time and Melodies & Memories were part of that education, while an SP-1200 became a recurring starting point in his production process.

Over more than two decades, his productions and remixes have appeared on Defected, Planet E, Classic, Ministry of Sound, KMS, Yoruba and Warner Brothers. Collaborations and professional relationships with figures including Kevin Saunderson, Carl Craig, Derrick May, Claude Young, Amp Fiddler and Osunlade place his work within Detroit’s wider network without reducing it to one genre or generation.

Sampled has also existed beyond records. Daniels’ long-running Movement Festival afterparty grew from a local gathering into an annual meeting point for Detroit artists and international guests. That community function is central to the label’s return: preserving records matters, but so does creating a platform where the city’s house lineage can continue to develop in public.

‘The Remixes’ therefore works as both catalogue recovery and a statement of intent. By restoring six proven club records instead of treating the relaunch as a clean break, Daniels presents Sampled Detroit as a living archive—one able to carry its history forward while opening space for future artists and dance-floor-focused releases.
