Bicycle Corporation introduce guest DJ Murphy Kin, also known as DJ Lucy, for a new edition of their Roots show on Scientific Sound Asia. The station continues to operate as Asia’s electronic music platform, DJ agency and promoter, connecting underground artists across the region and internationally.
Bicycle Corporation is the long-standing collaboration between Italian DJ and producer Marco Mei and classically trained musician Stefano Ugliano, better known as 6884. Together they have released well over fifty tracks spanning multiple subgenres of House and Techno, including Melodic, Deep, Tech and French influences, consistently balancing club functionality with musical depth.
Marco began his career in the early 1990s, initially working with event crews such as Urban People. Through persistence and dedication, he established himself within Italy’s underground scene, steadily becoming a respected and in-demand selector nationwide. His reputation soon extended beyond Italy, leading to international bookings and a career that has since spanned multiple continents.
Stefano, born and raised in Torino, demonstrated strong musical promise from an early age. His formative years were devoted to classical piano, percussion and drums, alongside a deep appreciation for Chopin’s compositions and the rhythmic traditions of the West African djembe. This diverse musical grounding later shaped his approach to electronic production, bringing structure and groove into his studio work.
Despite his broad musical education, it was the figure of the DJ that truly captured Stefano’s imagination. At a time when electronic music received little mainstream exposure on Italian radio, the idea of creating and performing those sounds became a defining ambition. Through commitment, vision and sustained effort, his partnership with Marco evolved into what is now known as Bicycle Corporation.
Despite their international recognition today, Marco and Stefano remain connected to their roots. In recent years, they have revisited earlier productions and launched a Bandcamp page to make these formative works accessible once again, reaffirming their respect for underground culture and independent distribution.
Through Roots, Bicycle Corporation continue to spotlight respected DJs and producers from across Asia and the wider electronic community, strengthening connections between scenes while honouring the foundations of club music culture.

Guest DJ Murphy Kin.
This week’s guest DJ is Murphy Kin, also known as DJ Lucy. Driven by constant curiosity and a passion for discovering new sounds, he approaches music with an open and exploratory mindset. Originally connected to the film industry, he brings a cinematic perspective to DJing and production, treating each set as an unfolding narrative rather than a fixed sequence.
Listening to DJ Lucy is often compared to watching a film. His performances are shaped by tension, contrast and emotional shifts, favouring gradual development over immediate impact. Rather than relying on predictable 4/4 structures or constant 125–128 BPM momentum, he builds his sets patiently, guiding listeners through evolving moods before reaching their peak moments.
His selections move fluidly across genres, drawing from romantic rock, classic old-school sounds and R&B before transitioning into disco, indie, rock and dance-oriented rhythms. This layered approach creates the feeling of a cinematic journey, where each transition contributes to a broader emotional arc rather than a simple change in tempo.
Naturally energetic and positive in character, DJ Lucy embraces a wide musical spectrum. His range extends from hip hop, rock and punk to indie rock and jazz, allowing him to shape atmospheres dynamically and respond instinctively to the moment. His ability to shift styles while maintaining cohesion reflects both musical depth and performance sensitivity.
As the driving force behind Ting Ting Disco, he has been instrumental in curating and performing at distinctive parties across Taipei and Shanghai since 2015. The project expanded beyond Taiwan in 2017, touring across multiple cities in China and other parts of Asia, steadily building recognition for its diverse and high-quality programming.
In recent years, Ting Ting Disco has evolved beyond events, focusing on releasing music online and integrating productions from artists around the world. This expansion reflects DJ Lucy’s ongoing commitment to broadening musical access and supporting multi-genre exploration.
When performing live, DJ Lucy avoids rigid formulas or scripted routines. His sets are shaped by atmosphere, audience energy and intuition. At times, he responds directly to the mood of the room; at others, he directs it deliberately, much like a film director guiding a scene toward its climax.
Murphy Kin's Roots episode 172 opens with Iron Curtis’ Oh Come On, setting a clean house foundation before Roundtree’s Hit On You and MaloMalo’s Brick House introduce disco and funky house energy. The early section blends groove-led rhythm with soulful touches, moving fluidly between classic house structure and disco warmth.
Midway through, deep house becomes more prominent with Ivan Garci’s Musical Friends, Jakobin & Domino’s True Things Are Rare and Jad & The’s 2 Getha. First Choice’s The Player adds a strong soul and funk presence before Euro-Disco textures surface in Jarmaz’s Night City Life and Javier Busto’s Acid Crop remix.
The organic and indie-leaning section builds through Kora & Wuachuma’s Alpha, Jex Opolis’ Human Emotion and Jimpster’s remix of Burning Up, balancing groove with subtle depth. Joan Bibiloni edits and Joe Achi’s Bad Behaviour maintain an indie dance direction, while Kalipo’s Breaking Dawn introduces darker disco tones.
The final stretch leans back into soulful and uplifting house with Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill edit, DJ Vas’ One Love and Ken@Work’s Keep Rising. Roots 172 moves confidently through house, disco, indie dance and soulful selections, maintaining cohesion while reflecting Murphy Kin’s broad underground range.
