Terence C, a respected guest DJ and seasoned selector, features for Bicycle Corporation for episode 135 of Electronic Roots, broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia. As a hub for electronic music in Asia and beyond, Scientific Sound Asia continues to highlight underground talent through its radio shows, live events, and DJ agency.

Bicycle Corporation is the collaboration between Italian DJ and producer Marco Mei and classically trained musician Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. With more than 50 tracks and remixes released, the duo’s catalogue spans House and Techno, combining rhythmic drive with melodic sensibility.

Marco began his musical path in the early 1990s, influenced by Afro-infused grooves and the underground electronic scene in Italy. His role in launching the Urban People collective shaped the country’s early club culture and later secured him a residency at the iconic Pacha in Sharm el-Sheikh, where he built his international reputation.

Stefano, raised in Turin, developed strong foundations through classical piano, percussion, and drumming, inspired by composers such as Chopin and by West African rhythms. His growing fascination with electronic music in the ’90s, coupled with DJ culture, eventually led to the creation of Bicycle Corporation, merging traditional musicianship with electronic exploration.

Together, Marco and Stefano remain committed to their origins while looking forward. Their Electronic Roots show continues to explore House and Techno with guest DJs from across Asia, fostering cultural exchange and maintaining an underground spirit. Episode 135 with Terence C follows this vision, delivering a deep, groove-led journey into the region’s evolving sound.

Terence C, a renowned Malaysian DJ and producer now based in Shanghai, headlines this week’s edition of Electronic Roots on Scientific Sound Asia. With over two decades of experience, he has become one of Asia’s most respected selectors, known for his deep musical knowledge and consistently high-calibre performances.

He played a pivotal role in developing Kuala Lumpur’s House and Techno scenes, holding long-term residencies at some of the city’s leading venues. His ability to read the room and deliver with precision earned him a trusted place in the region’s nightlife, along with the respect of both peers and audiences.

Terence has shared the stage with international icons such as David Morales, Fatboy Slim, and Pete Tong, while becoming a regular opener for John Digweed’s Malaysian appearances. Their recurring collaborations at the legendary Zouk Club in Kuala Lumpur became landmark moments, underlining Terence’s ability to command the dancefloor with authority and style.

His longstanding connection with Zouk, one of Asia’s most influential club institutions, further cemented his reputation. In the years before the pandemic, he co-founded We Love Techno with DJ XU, a monthly series dedicated to deeper and cutting-edge sounds from imprints like Drumcode and Cocoon. The night quickly developed a loyal following and injected raw underground energy into the KL circuit.

Terence began his career in 1998 with the guidance of DJ Chris Doss, making his mark with gigs at Cubeat and Globar. A major turning point came with his slot opening for David Morales’ first Malaysian performance, which led to regular bookings at Movement Club, Backroom, Nouvo, and Atmosphere.

His reputation soon carried him beyond Malaysia, with appearances at top venues including Lush in Singapore and Liquid in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2005, he co-founded Altered Image with Callen Tham and Digital, an innovative live audio-visual project that fused cinematic visuals, turntablism, and electronic music. The project won the Malaysian edition of the Heineken Thirst competition and went on to tour across the region.

In recent years, Terence has continued to refine his craft, integrating digital platforms such as Ableton Live and experimenting with hybrid setups. His studio output is gaining traction, with fresh material set for release in the near future.

As a curator for Electronic Roots, Terence brings a refined and forward-looking perspective to House and Techno. His presence on Scientific Sound Asia underlines his commitment to innovation and his enduring influence on Asia’s underground electronic movement.
