Bicycle Corporation announce tracklist for Roots 90

Bicycle Corporation have announced the tracklist for their Roots 90 show on Scientific Sound Asia. The platform operates as an underground electronic music radio station and DJ agency for Asia and international audiences, while also publishing music news.

Bicycle Corporation is the Italian duo formed by DJ and producer Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Their catalogue includes more than 50 releases across Techno, Deep House, House, Melodic House and French House.

Marco began his career in the early 1990s through Italy’s House Music and Techno scene. His work with the Urban People crew helped build his reputation, leading to wider recognition across Italy and later international bookings.

Stefano was born in Turin, Italy, and showed strong musical ability from childhood. He studied classical piano, percussion and drums, with influences ranging from Chopin to West African djembe.

Although Stefano explored several forms of music, the role of the DJ became a major fascination during his teenage years. At a time when electronic sounds were still difficult to hear on Italian radio, the idea of creating and performing that music opened a new direction.

That shared commitment later brought Marco and Stefano together as Bicycle Corporation. Their work combines club experience, musical training and a long-running interest in underground electronic sound.

Despite their wider activity, the duo have kept a close connection to their early work. They have revisited some of their first productions and created a Bandcamp page to make selected material available again.

Bicycle Corporation Roots 90 moves through Nu Disco, Funk, Afrobeat, Disco House and classic re-edit material. First Choice open with Love Thang in the Conan Liquid Kitchen Sync Remix, placing the first track inside a disco re-edit context shaped for modern club use.

Rose Royce’s Do Your Dance in the Alexey edit and Change’s Hold Tight in the Azuro edit keep the opening section close to Funk and Disco. Bill Withers’ You Got The Stuff then appears in the DJ Harvey edit, bringing a deeper groove-led Funk source into the programme.

George McRae’s Get Lifted in the Igor Gonya edit returns the show to Nu Disco / Disco before Jorge Ben’s Ponta De Lança Africano (Umbabarauma) introduces Afrobeat and samba-funk rhythm through the Voodoo Doughnuts Redux Edit. Kongas’ Anikana O and Richie Havens’ Going Back To My Roots then continue the African and Afro-disco thread through extended club edits.

Hugh Masekela’s Don’t Go Lose It Baby in the Uncle Jam Dubstrumental brings a strong Afro-Funk and Disco reference into the middle section. Anne Clark’s Our Darkness and Yello’s Goldrush then move the selection into Electro, adding a darker synthetic contrast after the percussion-led run.

War’s Peace in the Lucci Capri edit returns the show to Funk before Wild Cherry’s Play That Funky Music in the Marco Fratty remix introduces Disco House. Vito Lalinga’s Kela Futi in the Lego Jazzy Cut then brings the set back towards Afrobeat with a jazz-influenced club feel.

Tullio De Piscopo’s Stop Bajon in the Jolly Mare remix and Tony Orlando’s Don’t Let Go in the DJ XS edit restore the Nu Disco / Disco line. Timmy Thomas’ Africano in the Lego Afrocult edit follows with a Funk placement before Tania Maria’s Come With Me introduces Latin Jazz through the Lego unreleased edit.

The Unknown Cases’ Masimbabele 89 in the Adrian Sherwood remix brings the programme back towards Afrobeat and dub-influenced global club rhythm. Orlando Riva Sound’s Body To Body Boogie then returns the show to Nu Disco / Disco through The Owl’s re-edit style.

The Fatback Band’s Yum Yum in the Lego edit gives the closing section another Funk entry before Space’s Magic Fly appears in the Greg Wilson and Peza mix. Willie Colón’s Set Fire To Me in the Latin Jazzbo Version and CJ & Co’s We Got Our Own Thing in the Mighty Mouse Dub Edit close Roots 90 with Nu Disco and Disco House after a route through Funk, Afrobeat, Electro and Latin Jazz.
