Scientific Sound Asia announces a new show from Spiritual Viking, originally launched on Sunday 21 February 2021. The platform operates as an Asian underground electronic music radio station for Japan, Vietnam, China, India and international audiences, alongside its work as a DJ agency, promoter and music news outlet.

Spiritual Viking, real name Trevor Peterson, is a Canadian DJ from Montreal. His connection with Techno began in 1999, shaped by the city’s club and after-hours culture during a key period for electronic music.

At the age of 20, he was heavily influenced by Montreal’s nightlife and the weekly gatherings at SONA Afterhours Club. The venue introduced him to international artists and helped form the foundations of his sound.

During that era, Montreal hosted major electronic music figures including Tiesto, Carl Cox, John Digweed, Josh Wink and Richie Hawtin. Those artists became lasting reference points for Spiritual Viking’s musical direction and DJ style.

He first learned to mix using the classic setup of Technics SL-1200 turntables and a Vestax mixer. Living in a loft on St Laurent Street placed him close to many of Montreal’s clubs and nightlife spaces.

Around the turn of the millennium, he played regularly at Quattro Supper Club every Friday and SHED Café every other Saturday. These appearances gave him early exposure within Montreal’s nightlife scene and strengthened his connection with club culture.

That period also brought personal difficulties, as his involvement in the scene became tied to drug and alcohol problems. In 2009, he entered rehabilitation and began rebuilding his life with a renewed sense of direction.

By 2013, Spiritual Viking returned to DJing and reconnected with the music that had first inspired him. He began sharing his sound again in Montreal, performing regularly at local bars and clubs.

His show on Scientific Sound Asia presents that background through Techno and underground electronic music. Further music and mixes can be followed through his SoundCloud, where his selections continue to document his work as Spiritual Viking.

Spiritual Viking presents episode 1 on Scientific Sound Asia, introducing a selection built around Melodic House and Techno, Techno, Progressive House and Peak Time Techno. The episode opens a new archive series with music from Fabrication, Hannes Bieger, Green Velvet, Layton Giordani, Hyperloop, Spektre and Stephan Bodzin.

Fabrication opens with Gravity, setting a melodic and structured tone before Bob Tosh moves the mix into Techno with Kinetic. Atalanta Live follows with Synthetic Vegetables, adding a more melodic direction before Natalino Nunes brings a tougher rhythm through Sagrada.

Carlos Menaca’s African Roots introduces an Afro House element, adding percussion-led movement to the early section. Paul Jays then shifts the set towards Progressive House with Kashmira, followed by Niukid’s Qosqoricon and Keep This with Sleeping With Ghosts.

Hannes Bieger’s Poem For The Planet brings the mix back into Melodic House and Techno, using a measured arrangement and spoken-word detail. K-mal and Andrey-ay continue that direction with Inside The Universe, before Parlando’s Vento adds another melodic layer to the central section.

Three Hammers move the show into a firmer Techno frame with Classic Sound, followed by Niukid’s second appearance on 30 Dias. Marco Effe’s Sexgas then adds a Tech House turn before Fabiotek’s Paralysis pushes the mix back towards a darker Techno structure.

Green Velvet and Layton Giordani bring Peak Time Techno into focus with Life Lessons, giving the later part of the episode a heavier club direction. Faku.g follows with Abnormal Thoughts, while Ermatik’s Zimt and Hyperloop’s In Your Mind keep the pressure centred on Techno and Peak Time Techno.

Steven Campodonico’s Classic Coke continues the direct late-set sound before Spektre’s Needs And Wants adds another Peak Time Techno entry. Hominum then closes that run with Vetus Infectus, keeping the rhythm tight before the final melodic section arrives.

Fabrication returns with Dustpig, bringing the episode back into Melodic House and Techno before Stephan Bodzin’s Strand adds a recognisable melodic techno reference. Brickman’s Sunrise To Sunrise introduces a Minimal Tech passage, before Fabrication closes the show with Colors On The Wall.
