Scientific Sound Asia is excited to announce that Portuguese DJ Joshua will be hosting the Floating Beats show every Monday from 6 to 8 PM Indochina Time (ICT) and repeating on Friday from 6 to 8 AM (ICT). Scientific Sound Asia is an online English-language electronic dance music genre radio station, DJ agency, and promoter for the Asian region, broadcasting 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
DJ Joshua, originally from the picturesque city of Évora in Portugal, is a dedicated quality music lover and collector with an insatiable passion for electronic dance music (EDM). His journey through the vibrant world of electronic music has captivated him, drawing him into a myriad of styles such as House, Drum and Bass, Chillout, and particularly Techno, which stands out as one of his most significant influences.
In the early 1990s, Joshua began to refine his craft, putting together his first mixes with his decks and amassing an extensive collection of vinyl records. His early dedication to the DJing scene was marked by collaborations on local radio shows, where he explored various genres of electronic music, including Acid House, Progressive House, and even the rising popularity of Detroit Techno.
His enthusiasm for electronic sounds allowed him to organise memorable House Music and Techno events alongside friends, playing an active role in shaping the rave culture that flourished in Portugal during that time. This commitment not only highlighted his skills as a DJ but also solidified his place in the burgeoning electronic music community.
After experiencing a series of life-changing events that necessitated a temporary hiatus from performing, DJ Joshua’s love for the art of DJing proved resilient. A few years ago, he made a dynamic return to the decks, reigniting his passion and creativity through his acclaimed podcast, Floating Beats Sessions.
This platform has garnered international attention, featuring his mixes broadcast on prominent House Music and Techno radio stations worldwide. His podcast stands as a testament to his dedication to Deep House, Tech House, Melodic House, and the energetic beats of Techno, resonating with listeners who share a love for vibrant electronic sounds.
Joshua’s philosophy on music reverberates through his sets: “Music is an art form, a fusion of elements that can convey emotions and make the body move. This is a space where you can hear sounds that float and ultimately resonate within you.” He firmly believes that each track has the potential to create a unique emotional experience for the listener, transforming moments on the dance floor into an exhilarating journey.
In his weekly show, DJ Joshua showcases an eclectic mix of House Music and Techno genres, diving deep into Deep House, Tech House, Melodic House, Detroit House, Soulful House, Progressive House, Vocal House, Melodic Techno, and Techno. Each episode is meticulously curated, allowing listeners to enjoy the lush melodies and infectious rhythms that epitomise the essence of electronic dance music.
Joshua’s engaging mixes invite an immersive experience that promises to enchant and uplift, encouraging listeners to lose themselves in pulsating beats and rich sounds. We are incredibly excited to welcome DJ Joshua aboard, where he will take listeners on a sonic adventure through the depths of electronic music.

The first Floating Beats session opens with Joseph Ashworth’s Laminated and Leonardo Gonnelli alongside Adne’s Work It, establishing an early Tech House groove before Danny Howells introduces a melodic edge through Mallets. James Dexter and Gorge continue the progression with Audio Slave and Beyond Flatlines, balancing Minimal and Deep House textures.
Momentum builds through Luca Bisori and Delano Smith, where Sun In My Voice and They’re Coming maintain a warm underground House atmosphere. Mara shifts the mood slightly with 1974, introducing Progressive House elements before Sascha Sonido and MANIK (NYC) close the first session with groove-led Tech House and Deep House selections.
The second session opens with Fauvrelle’s U Say and dPop with Backsvart’s Acedia in the Mihai Popoviciu remix, immediately reinforcing the Deep House direction. Toni Varga and Lex Loofah add tighter Tech House rhythms with Green Lobster and Kerb Crawler, keeping the energy flowing steadily.
A deeper Minimal Tech influence emerges through Chris Carrier’s Lota Draconis alongside Oscar Poulsen’s Brain Delay and James Dexter with Frink’s Gone. These selections reflect the stripped-back underground House sound that shaped many early Floating Beats sessions.
The closing stretch returns toward deeper grooves with AJ Sent’s Eat Your Words and Mihai Popoviciu’s Lotus in the Peter Makto and Gregory S remix. Gorge rounds off the session with Jyoti, closing the early era of Floating Beats with a smooth Deep House finish that reflects DJ Joshua’s original House and Deep Tech-focused direction before the show later evolved toward heavier Techno sounds.
