Cali’s HouseNation Radio returns this Saturday on Scientific Sound Asia, hosted by DJ Nocturne of Digital Audio Kingz. This week’s episode opens with a set from Nocturne before passing the decks to Tamio Yamashita, who delivers a guest mix full of groove, rhythm, and uplifting house energy.
Nocturne, originally from Los Angeles, began his DJ career in 2007 performing as DJ Turiz, moving effortlessly between reggaeton, hip hop, and Latin genres like bachata, merengue, salsa, and cumbia. His dynamic presence and versatility quickly made him a favourite across Southern California’s nightlife, where he built a reputation for keeping dancefloors moving and spirits high.
In 2013, he transitioned toward electronic music, co-founding Digital Audio Kingz with DJ MORE and earning regular FM radio airtime. By 2018, he rebranded as Nocturne and launched Cali’s HouseNation Radio, a house and dance mix series that has since grown into a globally syndicated show through the CHNR Syndication Network.
Now based in San Diego while maintaining close ties to Los Angeles, Nocturne continues to expand his creative output with projects like On the Deep End, exploring deep, progressive, and melodic house and techno, alongside his Deep House Sessions under DAK Music. His work reflects an ongoing mission to share the warmth and unity of house culture with audiences around the world.
This week’s guest, Tamio Yamashita, brings his distinct blend of Japanese artistry and global dance energy to the mix. Known for his innovative productions and forward-thinking approach, he seamlessly fuses organic textures with club-ready rhythms. With Nocturne’s refined sound and Tamio’s boundary-pushing creativity, this episode of Cali’s HouseNation Radio promises an uplifting and unforgettable journey through modern house music.

Guest DJ Tamio Yamashita.
Tamio Yamashita was born on the island of Tanegashima, in southern Kyushu, surrounded by sea and nature. The sounds of waves, wind, and wildlife became part of his early musical world. His journey into music began in elementary school after hearing Western songs on the radio, which inspired him to explore sound more deeply.
By sixth grade, he was playing drums, and by junior high, he was already composing. A talented student, he earned a percussion scholarship to a leading music school in Fukuoka, where he studied classical performance and breath control, winning multiple gold medals in national competitions.
After graduation, he began working as a percussion teacher, performing in bands, DJing, and composing electronically. In 1992, he moved to New York, performing in jam sessions with well-known musicians and refining his musical sense in the city’s vibrant scene.
Returning to Japan, he founded Japrican Sounds, producing music for films, commercials, and artists across genres from classical and club to anime. Several of his tracks have topped charts on iTunes and Amazon, bringing his work to a wider audience.
In 2011, he launched A|X Music, the first official label of Armani Exchange Japan, curating music for fashion shows and live events while performing as a DJ. His innovative blend of music and fashion marked a new creative direction in Japan’s club scene.
In 2020, Tamio made headlines by developing the world’s first 5G-based sound system, allowing real-time DJ recording and mastering on a single computer. He later advanced the system further, combining 5G and extended reality (xR) technology to merge analogue warmth with digital precision, creating music that reconnects listeners to their natural sense of sound.
Since then, Tamio has expanded internationally, performing as a headliner at UK festivals and signing with New York’s King Street Sound label in 2021. That same year, his music was featured on the official Tokyo Olympics compilation album.
Active on platforms like Mixcloud and SoundCloud, he now hosts weekly radio shows streamed worldwide and handles branding projects for major Japanese companies, including Streamer Coffee Company, for which he launched Streamer Sounds Tokyo.
In 2023, he ranked in the top three of Mixcloud’s UK Garage Chart, confirming his continued global impact. Looking ahead to 2024 and beyond, Tamio Yamashita continues to express joy, energy, and love through music, bridging cultures and generations with innovation, rhythm, and soul.
DJ Nocturne opens the first hour with an infectious Jackin House sequence built for the dancefloor. Tracks from KPD, Matthew James, and Demuir bring lively percussion and Chicago-inspired swing, while Pinto (NYC) and PachangaStorm introduce warm, vocal-driven energy. Nocturne’s transition into classic House deepens the vibe with Daniel Steinberg’s Second Time Around and Darius Syrossian’s Medellin to Miami, combining soulful keys with club-ready basslines.
As the set progresses, Roland Clark and Mousse T. inject vibrant vocal layers that heighten the emotion before Nocturne pivots into the tougher rhythms of Tech House. With Jenny C, Alvaro Lopez, and Julian Collazos in the mix, the groove grows sharper and more percussive, closing the hour with Farley “Jackmaster” Funk’s legendary Love Can’t Turn Around, a timeless nod to House heritage.
The second hour, guided by Tamio Yamashita, begins on a lush Deep House note with Röyksopp’s What Else Is There? remix, moody, atmospheric, and beautifully layered. Tracks from DJ Disciple, Sharam Jey, and Paul Harris continue the flow with soulful vocals and fluid groove transitions. Frankie Knuckles’ Keep On Movin’ reconnects listeners to the roots of Garage House before the tempo shifts upward again.
Tamio’s finale bridges past and present, weaving Jewel Kid’s Erotik, Marco Dily’s Teardrop, and Jade’s Don’t Walk Away remix into a blend of Deep, Afro, and modern House. The hour closes on Old Boy by GLF & AnAmStyle, balancing warm rhythm with emotional depth, a fitting conclusion to a show that celebrates both heritage and forward-thinking club culture.
Join the live broadcast of the show on Saturday, October 18th, from 4 PM to 6 PM Indochina Time (ICT). If you miss the live airing, you can tune in again on Wednesday from 4 AM to 6 AM (ICT).
