Nocturne is back for Cali’s HouseNation Radio with guest DJ Jana Tokunaga

Cali’s HouseNation Radio returns with another edition hosted by Nocturne on Scientific Sound Asia. The platform operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music news outlet, connecting audiences across the region and internationally.

Originally from Los Angeles, Nocturne began DJing in 2007 under the name DJ Turiz. His early sets covered reggaeton, hip hop, bachata, merengue, salsa and cumbia, giving him a broad musical foundation and a strong understanding of club audiences across Southern California.

His attention shifted towards electronic music in 2013 as he explored house and deeper underground styles. During this period, he co-founded Digital Audio Kingz with DJ MORE and expanded into FM radio, creating further opportunities to share his selections with a wider audience.

The Nocturne project launched in 2018 alongside Cali’s HouseNation Radio, a programme dedicated to the many forms of house music. The show later developed into an internationally syndicated series through the CHNR Syndication Network, extending its reach beyond its original local audience.

Now based in San Diego, Nocturne also presents On the Deep End and Deep House Sessions under the DAK Music banner. These projects explore deeper progressive and melodic material while placing rhythm, atmosphere and coherent programming at the centre of each broadcast.

Through Cali’s HouseNation Radio, Nocturne presents established names alongside emerging artists from across the house music scene. Each episode draws on his background in club culture, radio and underground electronic music, offering listeners a varied selection shaped by experience and close attention to musical flow.

San Diego-based DJ Jana Tokunaga joins the programme as the guest selector, bringing six years of experience behind the decks. Her sets draw on a broad range of house music, with a focus on groove-led selections and energetic club rhythms.

Alongside her DJ work, Jana has recently started producing original music as she develops another side of her creative output. Her latest selections and updates can be found through her SoundCloud and Instagram profile.

Nocturne begins the first hour with the polished House Music groove of Unfazed’s Shivers, followed by the Malive remix of Million Pieces and Daniel Steinberg’s Mañana. Trace (UZ), James Poole and Franky Rizardo keep the rhythm centred on club-focused House through House Music, Lease Of Life and Zero Azucar.

Simon Doty’s Reup introduces a firmer Tech House section, with R3WIRE, Ms Pika and LondonGround building the middle of the hour around clipped percussion and compact basslines. Vannic and Pinto (COL), STO CULTR and TWENTY SIX extend that shift before My Friend’s One Night In Goa and The Magician’s SHY return the mix to a brighter House direction.

DJ Jana Tokunaga opens the second hour with Sterium and Marian (BR)’s 2010, moving the programme into Minimal / Deep Tech through Tom Savage, Sam Dexter and AJ Christou. The BizZa remix of Salt Lake, Classmatic and Crewcutz’s Sinestesia and Tim James (UK)’s Colas keep the sound lean and percussive before muuvë and Neviks close this section.

Marian (BR)’s Never Let You Down and Paradiso bring House back into focus alongside the Inflair remix of Joel Cantone’s Get Started. Reboot and Shokë’s Blues and Manuel De Lorenzi’s 6th January add a Deep House finish before Inflair’s Night Like This closes an episode that moves clearly from Nocturne’s broader House selection into Jana Tokunaga’s deeper second hour.
