The Boom Bap Show, hosted by DJ Ronsha and G-Zon, is one of the flagship programmes on Scientific Sound Asia. Dedicated to preserving the true essence of Hip-Hop, the weekly broadcast showcases a carefully curated mix of Boom Bap, Underground Hip-Hop, and Rap.
It has become a platform for both established icons and rising talent, strengthening Scientific Sound Asia’s reputation as a respected radio station, DJ agency, and event promoter with an audience that stretches across Asia and beyond.
G-Zon has been a key figure in the Paris rap scene since the 1980s, recognised for his role in driving the French Boom Bap movement forward. His long-standing partnership with DJ Ronsha gave rise to La Meute, a collective celebrated for its uncompromising lyricism and raw beats.
Their commitment to Hip-Hop’s foundations has never wavered, even as they continue to innovate and inspire. Among their most significant achievements is Danse Avec Les Loups, an album featuring collaborations with French heavyweights such as 20SYL (Hocus Pocus, C2C) and Black M (Sexion d’Assaut). The project expanded La Meute’s reach worldwide while keeping its underground authenticity intact.
Based in Paris, DJ Ronsha is renowned for his precise production style and encyclopaedic music knowledge, curating each set to bridge the golden era of Hip-Hop with its evolving present. Together, DJ Ronsha and G-Zon have built more than a radio show; they have fostered a movement that connects Hip-Hop fans across generations and cultures, ensuring the genre’s history and future remain deeply intertwined.
The opening stretch of this episode establishes the Boom Bap foundation with Nick Lenton’s Unbreakable, followed by DJ Moya & Daniel Son’s aggressive cuts Growl and War Face. Silent Funk +1 keeps the rugged momentum alive with Can Opener Laws, showcasing sharp lyricism and DJ Tone Spliff’s trademark scratches. The first section embodies the uncompromising underground sound the show is known for.
As the mix moves forward, we hear collaborations blending modern voices with legends. Dell-P & Trac-Qaeda’s Resilient, featuring Masta Ace, demonstrates the seamless link between golden-era influence and contemporary narratives. Casshan & Fiendsh bring Canibus into The Rumbling, while Dox Tha Doctrine & 2Deep team up with Kool G Rap for Speak Easy, further anchoring the show in Hip Hop’s East Coast legacy.
Midway through, UFO Fev & Big Ghost Ltd’s Culture Cypher with DJ Perly and J Scienide & Bes Kept’s Dundas Theme keep the raw aesthetic intact. Jay Royale & Pete Twist’s Lord Of The Flies brings Raf Almighty’s street presence into the mix, while Pretty Bulli delivers commanding vocals over Castle Money Beats’ production on Lifestyle. The variety continues with Blu joining Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire on Absotively Posilutely, a playful yet razor-sharp entry that highlights the underground’s breadth.
The final stretch is both energetic and thought-provoking. From Karbine’s Atlantic with M.A.V. & Rigz to Da Inphamus Amadeuz’s politically charged We The People, the set balances hardcore bars with conscious themes. OSVN & Rod Da Blizz pay tribute with Long Live The Cow, while Skinny Bonez Tha Godfatha’s posse cut A New York Minut reinforces the show’s underground ethos. With strong contributions from Mad1ne, Bucket Top Boogz, and King Kamal, Episode 404 closes on a high note, reminding listeners why DJ Ronsha & G-Zon remain essential curators of Boom Bap culture.
