The Boom Bap Show, hosted by DJ Ronsha and G-Zon, stands as one of the flagship programmes on Scientific Sound Asia. Dedicated to preserving the core spirit of authentic Hip-Hop, the weekly broadcast delivers a carefully selected mix of Boom Bap, Underground Hip-Hop, and Rap.
It serves as a platform for both established legends and emerging artists, contributing to Scientific Sound Asia’s reputation as a respected radio station, DJ agency, and event promoter with an audience stretching across Asia and beyond.
G-Zon has been a pivotal figure in the Paris rap scene since the 1980s, widely recognised for his role in advancing the French Boom Bap movement. His enduring partnership with DJ Ronsha led to the formation of La Meute, a collective celebrated for its raw beats and uncompromising lyricism.
Together, they have remained committed to the foundations of Hip-Hop while finding new ways to innovate and inspire. One of their most notable achievements was the release of Danse Avec Les Loups, featuring collaborations with acclaimed French artists such as 20SYL (Hocus Pocus, C2C) and Black M (Sexion d’Assaut).
The project expanded La Meute’s reach to a global audience while maintaining its underground credibility. Based in Paris, DJ Ronsha is known for his precise production style and encyclopaedic music knowledge, curating each show to bridge the gap between Hip-Hop’s golden era and its evolving sound.
Together, DJ Ronsha and G-Zon have built more than a radio show; they have created a movement that unites Hip-Hop fans across generations and cultures, ensuring the genre’s history and future remain intertwined.
Opening with Masta Ben’s signature Ronsha Mix Boom Bap Show Intro, the episode quickly dives into gritty authenticity. Tracks like uMaNg & B.B.Z Darney’s Summer Wars and Raekwon & Frank G’s Bear Hill deliver raw lyricism over dusty drums, while Dell-P & Trac-Qaeda’s Win Zone injects uplifting energy into the mix. The momentum builds with Art And Science from Circle Of Native Vibes, keeping the production soulful yet street-focused.
Midway, the set deepens in complexity. Eccentrak’s Treat Wins Like Souvenirs featuring Skyzoo blends vivid storytelling with tight flows, while Cliff Cloudz & Nivrock’s Winner's League and uMaNg & B.B.Z Darney’s Ashes To Palaces sharpen the verbal blade with features from Paranom and Tek-nition. Raekwon, Amadeus & Trilogy’s Pomogranite, featuring Inspectah Deck and Carlton Fisk, channels Wu-Tang’s mafioso influence, followed by Bleach & Samp Le Cutter’s Da Incredible and Legit & Tsicos’ 360 365, keeping the head-nod factor high.
The lyrical craftsmanship peaks in the third quarter. JFliz & Hilltop Productions’ Knuckle Up Buckle Down and Halfcut & Cole The God’s Green Stacks bring rugged street imagery. MotionPlus & NikkuuBeats stand out with both Basic Complex and Legacy, blending thought-provoking rhymes with sharp boom bap production. Above The Clouds’ Beware The Ops features a stacked lineup, while Tranzformer & Big O’s Culmination maintains the underground grit.
Closing strong, DJ Premier & Roc Marciano’s Good To Go is a masterclass in sample chopping and elite wordplay. The finale runs through a barrage of underground heat, UFO Fev & Big Ghost Ltd’s Scarlet Fever, Lazarus, Rakim & Dem Jointz’s Not To Be Defined, and Leaf Dog’s Magic. Mike Titan & Silent Someone close it out with Reality Bites, before Napoleon Da Legend’s Yellow Fever and Sankofa’s Havoc Avenue seal the episode with uncompromising authenticity, making this one of the most potent Boom Bap instalments yet.
