French DJ and producer DJ King Flow returns with a new instalment of Mixtape Addict, presenting a carefully curated selection of underground hip hop. Broadcast via Scientific Sound Asia, the Vietnam-based international radio station and promoter, the show continues to operate as a global platform for artists who uphold the core values of hip hop culture.

DJ King Flow began his journey at the age of fourteen, developing a style grounded in boom bap while embracing a contemporary outlook. His approach remains firmly rooted in the foundations of 90s hip hop while staying closely connected to the present, consistently supporting emerging voices from across the underground scene.

This ability to bridge generations has earned him respect from listeners and artists worldwide, establishing him as one of the most trusted selectors within lyrical hip hop. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with influential figures including Ras Kass, Tragedy Khadafi, O.C., Juicy J and Khujo Goodie, building lasting relationships that reflect his commitment to preserving the genre’s lineage.

Since launching Mixtape Addict in 2015, DJ King Flow has developed the platform into a recognised hub for independent artists, offering radio shows, interviews and mixtape releases that spotlight genuine talent and strengthen the underground community. Alongside his work as a selector, he continues to expand his creative output as a producer.

His instrumental album, The Adventures of F.J. Parker, blends jazz-influenced melodies, soulful textures, deep grooves, and the grit associated with classic hip-hop production. His 2025 releases, including Money, Give the Town Some Hope and several forthcoming collaborations, reflect continued artistic growth and a clear dedication to his craft.

Interview Guest: Kidd Called Quest.

Kidd Called Quest is a hip-hop producer and artist from Rochester, New York, known for his soulful, sample-driven production and deep respect for the culture of underground hip hop. He has steadily built a reputation within the independent scene by crafting beats that reflect both classic boom bap sensibilities and a modern rhythmic feel, rooted in the tradition of East Coast hip hop.

Growing up in Rochester, his early exposure to music came through family and local radio, and he began creating beats at a young age, eventually teaching himself to sample and produce using tools such as the MPC 2000. His first instrumental breakthrough came with the tape Jay Quest Vs 9TH Wonder, which helped introduce his work to a wider audience and set the foundation for his collaborative career.

Over the years, Kidd Called Quest has released a range of solo and collaborative projects that underscore his versatility and commitment to authentic hip hop. Notable releases include his work with Azariah on the Young Black and Gifted project, as well as acclaimed collaborations like Second Coming and Then and Now with Pretty Bulli. He has produced for artists across the indie and underground spectrum, and his catalog continues to grow with a mix of instrumental projects, compilation albums and joint releases with fellow lyricists.

His sound is defined by soulful samples, hard drums and a cohesive musical identity that honours the roots of hip hop while remaining fresh and relevant. As he continues to develop his craft in 2025 with new material under Young Black and Gifted and other collaborations, Kidd Called Quest exemplifies the producer-centric ethos of modern underground hip hop, bridging the legacy of classic beats with forward-looking creativity.

The episode opens with Kidd Called Quest setting an aggressive tone through Ferocious, Relate and Night Light, combining raw Boom Bap foundations with uncompromising underground energy. Legit and Rex Seshunz keep the momentum tight on Soul Fly, before Perfcto reinforces the pressure with Apollo. Onyx and Kardo then ignite the Hardcore edge on Ohh Yeahh, pushing the intensity higher.

Militant energy takes over as Obleak and his collaborators unleash Defcon 1, followed by Snowgoons, Fredro Starr and PMD delivering heavyweight authority on Let It Be Known. A.F.R.O and Termanology raise the technical bar on Da Buck Stops, before confrontation enters the mix through Fabolous’ 50 Cent Diss. Derange Da Messiah briefly pulls the focus inward with Everything.

The set turns darker as Obleak returns with Gangster, while Trench Warfare intensifies the atmosphere through relentless aggression from Dope D.O.D, Benny Holiday and Ras Kass. East Coast grit remains central on Aww Man, before Perfcto’s Beast Mode pushes the Hardcore energy to its peak.

The closing stretch sharpens its underground identity with Saturday Night Cleaver and Off White, before Mic Bles and Maniac add lyrical perspective on Artist Official Intelligence. DJ King Flow closes the hour with an in-depth interview with Kidd Called Quest, grounding the episode in discipline, collaboration and raw Boom Bap integrity.

The live broadcast will air on Tuesday, January 6th, 2025, from 8 to 10 PM Indochina Time (ICT), with a replay set for Saturday from 8 to 10 AM (ICT).
