Italian DJ and producer Marco Mei, the driving force behind Bicycle Corporation, returns with a new edition of his long-running radio show on Scientific Sound Asia. The station continues to serve as a vital platform for underground electronic and urban music across Asia, connecting international audiences through radio broadcasts, live events and a global artist network.
With a career spanning over three decades, Marco has developed a sound shaped by Afro-influenced rhythms, deep house foundations and forward-moving club energy. His instinctive relationship with the dance floor, combined with an experience-led and refined musical approach, has earned him long-standing respect across Europe, Asia and beyond.
Marco’s journey began in the early 1990s in Turin, where he immersed himself in the city’s underground club culture. Drawn to house, techno and Afro-centric rhythms, he co-founded the Urban People collective, which played a formative role in Italy’s early electronic movement by organising forward-thinking events and club nights beyond the mainstream.
A defining chapter followed with a residency at Pacha in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, which expanded his international profile and opened the door to performances across a wide range of global venues. His touring history includes appearances at Woo Bar in Bali, The Mansion in Shanghai, Fuse in Brussels and The Observatory in Ho Chi Minh City, among many others.
In 2009, Marco partnered with producer Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884, to form Bicycle Corporation. Together, they have released more than fifty tracks and remixes spanning Deep House, Tech House, French House and Techno, appearing on labels such as Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, Suka and GrooveTraxx. Their output consistently balances club-ready functionality with musical depth, earning steady support within the underground scene.
Now based in Taipei, Marco remains an active and influential presence within the region’s electronic music community. Through his ongoing radio work with Scientific Sound Asia, he instils decades of club culture into carefully curated selections that honour underground heritage while embracing contemporary sounds. Each broadcast reflects his enduring connection to the dancefloor, reinforcing his role as a bridge between scenes, generations and global underground communities.
The opening section leans into classic House and Deep House foundations, with Jackin' A Box, Granulated Soul and Gotta Keep Tryin' setting a tone rooted in groove, swing and vocal-driven club music. These selections reflect a period when House was built around simple arrangements, strong basslines and repeated musical phrases.
As the mix develops, Disco House and Soulful House come into focus. Tracks such as Clap Ya Hands, It's A Love Thang, and What You Need highlight the influence of disco songwriting and gospel-leaning vocals, while edits and remixes retain the original warmth and rhythmic intent of their source material.
The middle stretch moves through Garage House and Acid House territory, where Work, We Can Make It and Keep On Dancin' emphasise stripped-back drums, raw synthesis and call-and-response vocals. These tracks underline the crossover between US garage, Chicago house and early club culture.
The closing selections return to classic House with subtle modern touches. Tracks like Use Me Again, Keep On Running, and Funky Fresh round out the episode with a timeless approach, reinforcing the enduring structure of House music and Marco Mei’s long-standing connection to its roots.
Don’t miss DJ Marco Mei’s live set on Saturday, January 31st, 2026, from 6 to 8 PM Indochina Time (ICT). If you can’t tune in for the live show, you can catch the replay on Wednesday between 6 and 8 AM (ICT).
