Velvety Elements 320 on Scientific Sound Asia welcomes back DJ Joshua for another edition of his long-running show. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and promoter, publishing music news and connecting audiences across the region and internationally.
Based in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has been part of electronic music culture since the 1990s, developing a broad musical perspective across vinyl, cassettes, CDs and digital formats. While his interests have extended into techno, drum and bass and chillout over the years, house music has always sat at the centre of his approach.
He stayed active through quieter periods in Portugal's underground scene via event promotion, collaborations and support for local artists, before stepping back to focus on family. His return through Floating Beats re-established his presence in the radio community and provided a platform for deeper musical exploration.
Velvety Elements grew from that same creative direction, focusing on the warmer and more soulful side of house music. The show favours flowing grooves, rich textures and understated energy over immediate impact, building each episode around depth and continuity.
His studio output as Joshua Marian has been particularly active in recent months. Soul Zone and Love My Soul on Bassment Tapes and Tengo Rojo and Restless Lips on 659 Records cover deep house and soulful house territory, while How to Play Guitar on his own JFLM Recordings steps into melodic house and techno. A forthcoming two-track release on 14th Level Of Paradise, Always on my Mind and I Can Go, You Can See, continues that deep house direction and is due in July 2026.
The K Joshua alias moves into rawer territory, with Promised Work on Kopoc, Stranger Things on dublucid and As You Are on Liberty Rhythm covering hypnotic techno, dub techno and ambient influences. In 2024 he launched JFLM Recordings as an independent outlet for his own productions and collaborative work, dedicated to underground electronic music and long-term artistic development.
Velvety Elements 320 opens with Deebop's Feelin' Good on Piston Recordings, the warm Deep House quality of that selection establishing the set's underground tone from the outset. Fred P's After Care on Private Society follows, the New York producer's consistently deep and introspective approach giving the opening section a measured and considered character.
Tuccillo's Lost Island on House of Tucci and DJ Sneak's Natural Habitat on Hudd Traxx carry the set forward, the latter's Chicago roots connecting the episode to the foundational Deep House tradition that runs through DJ Joshua's programming. Franck Roger's Wayback on Vibe Me To The Moon and Harley and Muscle's Thirty Years on Soulstar Records sustain the warm underground direction before Byron The Aquarius's House Music track The Last Mile Of The Way on Hard Times Records makes a second appearance across the Velvety Elements series.
Borderless People's One Harmony on Piston Recordings and Joshua Marian's You Want Me on Promo follow, the latter giving DJ Joshua a personal moment under his own production alias.
Luis Radio and Maurizio Baiocchi's City Feeling on Groovebom Records and Nacho Marco's Electric Green on Phonogramme carry the set into its later stages with a consistent Deep House warmth.
Kevin Yost's How Deep I Get on I Records closes the episode, the New Jersey producer's long-established deep and soulful sensibility providing a fitting conclusion to a set that stayed close to its underground roots throughout. Velvety Elements 320 is a focused and uncompromising piece of Deep House radio programming, DJ Joshua drawing from a tight network of labels to deliver a live radio show that holds its warmth and character from first track to last.
